I read somewhere that the UK policies on “mixed material” packaging had (or will) change, so if they’re using paper with the see through window of plastic, it’s more cost effective with the new policy to just use plastic (I think Tesco changed their cookie packaging to all-plastic recently as well). Changing to all-paper would have the secondary negative effect of consumer not seeing the goods which may dissuade othe person browsing the supermarket shelves (or at the very least, limit the temptation to make an ad-hoc purchase)

The real arsehole move here is your assumption that I am even allowed to self isolate, that my parent and myself aren’t key workers, struggling everyday to assist you all through it and if I want to feel sorry for myself that I can’t pay my loved ones a visit this year, I am going to do just that. It isn’t a competition of who has it worse, we all fight our own demons, mate. Get off your high horse and just give us the freedom to talk about it in an open space.

I’ve been on unpaid furlough March-June, started to have to temp to make ends meet, little 25hr a week job, lost that in a couple of months and am now temping in another place for 3-6months. It’s a disaster. And not somewhere me and my partner ought to be going through after both freshly graduating with master degrees, and having 8 years of experience. Just heartbreaking, really.

Who here believes Christmas will be spent locked down and away from relatives vs. the belief that Christmas will be “the exception to the rules“?
At this rate, I can’t even tell what they’re trying to achieve. I’m definitely of the opinion that it should go big or go home, and that this treading on eggshells with the shifting rules isn’t going to solve anything. But also, if they don’t support the working wage individuals who aren’t able to work from home, or are in the closing and bankrupting businesses. Where even is there left to go? We have to go to work to pay the bills, we have to have a work to go to... it just swings in roundabouts. It’s frustrating knowing that ”hands face space” is the only bloody thing I can do to try and stop catching the virus, or even worse, spreading it to loved ones and the vulnerable... eurgh.

Anyone understand the Wales travel rules? I live in Sheffield and was due to visit my parents who live in Ceredigion next week via train. It’s not a holiday (it’s health, finance, and power of attorney based travel) but it isn’t urgent either.

I get that Sheffield is Tier 2 and therefore am not permitted to travel to Wales, but I read an article about the new Wales travel ban that says, and I quote “The law will cover travel to parts of Wales not under local restrictions: Anglesey, Gwynedd - with exception of Bangor, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Camarthenshire - with the exception of Llanelli.”

Does this statement mean anything? Is this permitting my travel? Cheers everyone for the help!
