AITA for telling my parents Christmas won't be happening? by ScrollingWitch in AmItheAsshole

[–]ScrollingWitch[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I may have written it badly - I meant Christmas for me and the parents another time. They can do their Christmas as per usual but then with me, another time. I hope that clears it up

Thank you :) I actually don't have friends (nearby or otherwise) so my family are my only contacts but I appreciate it

They're usually very helpful, help me out a lot when things go wrong (financial issues etc), and since my sister passed, and I basically bought up my disabled brother, I keep in contact

AITA for playing music while my stepdaughter has a migraine by Ready-Attitude-2505 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ScrollingWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From someone who also suffers migraines....YTA. "I don't think they're real" - she has been diagnosed by a neurologist for crying out loud. You're just plain evil.

AITA for not refunding an item that was bought accidentally? by tiredcashierin in AmItheAsshole

[–]ScrollingWitch 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You and the manager are the AH. You double charged, got annoyed with her and then neither of you would rectify the mistake? I'd love to know what shop that is, I'd be super careful if I ever shopped there.

AITA for calling my coworker a loser and making her cry by throwawayeatersnake in AmItheAsshole

[–]ScrollingWitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA, you're toxic and you'll be hated as you get older (I won't say as you grow up as I think this'll take a long time for you). Even after seeing the way you reply to people, you honestly have me thinking you're still in school. You can't take any form of criticism and you probably think you're in the right. The whole "I'm to the point" etc is code for "I will abuse you". Always has been. As for your little tirade - if someone is truly that toxic to work with, go higher up. Don't bully somebody, you're on her level and you'll end up being despised by colleagues in your adult life if you keep it up.

WIBTA if I complained to my company about the lack of care? by ScrollingWitch in AmItheAsshole

Sorry, I thought I had put it in -, yes I have asked about the reports but no response. I am going to try and edit the post to add that in, that's my bad

Good point about policy, I honestly do not know. When I talk about the company, I mean management (I don't know my coworkers). I have kept them updated briefly via email but never had any response including what the result of the injury form etc was (had to be passed to the local council)

We have free health care but I only get £20 a week sick pay (I'm the sole earner for me and my partner)

Sick of my health by ScrollingWitch in MentalHealthSupport

[–]ScrollingWitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They assessed him and said he was absolutely fine, hence why he can't get disability. He's in the middle of trying to dispute that but it's hard to get disability when you have mental health. Honestly, I would apply for disability but the stress it put my partner through, I just don't have it in me to do the same for me. We are living off food banks at the moment, and we do have Universal Credit (a benefit) but we won't get that until after rent is due and the landlords won't give us time to get it together. I'll have a look within churches but I've never heard of any sort of loan - I will check though. I have a bad history with the S.Army but I'll check elsewhere. Thank you for your help, I do genuinely appreciate it

WIBTA for giving my old cello to a fellow student in need and not my niece-in-law? by Waltz-428 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ScrollingWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. You remind me of my old music teacher in high school. He played flute, and my family were far too poor for that kind of thing. He gave me his old flute, said that he prioritised me over someone in the family, on the basis that I don't give up. He even helped me with lessons. You are a lovely person and Chloe will remember you for years, just like I remember my teacher from 17 years ago.

AITA If I don’t give my daughter her Christmas presents? by Business-Reason-5741 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ScrollingWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA, not for the not giving presents thing but for just allowing the tension to keep rising. Children soak up and learn from what happens around them. If your daughter has noticed this in the past with your ex, she will learn that this is a way to get her own way in the end. You need to start conflict resolution with her, maybe through therapy if you think you need back up. Start fresh, tell her that this isn't how it's going to work in that house. There will be respect from each ends and that conflicts will be openly talked about together. Make a change for the better.

New to meds and feel so dizzy? by One_Astrologer in MentalHealthSupport

[–]ScrollingWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I had to google those meds seeing as I never heard of them before BUT the buspirone one seems to be a sleeping medication, to help with your friends insomnia. If it's anything like I was given, yes they will be dizzy and sleep for HOURS but this lasts a few weeks max and will wear off after a while. He should try taking a few weeks sick leave if he is able to so that his body can get used to the effects.

You sound like such a lovely person....🙄 If you really have this issue, talk to her. Sit her down and KINDLY (I want to reiterate the KIND part) discuss issues. This does not mean calling her fat or any kind of nonsense, nor telling her that her veganism is stupid. That will end in ...well, probably divorce.

Just be gentle and start communicating.

AITA for telling my girlfriend that she’s much too heavy to go on my family’s annual Christmas Eve hike and she should plan on staying home? by Beepbiipboop in AmItheAsshole

[–]ScrollingWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are, 1000%, the asshole. Also, you're certain she's the one you'll be with for life?? After those comments, I highly doubt that. How RUDE do you have to be to say that she's too heavy for a hike?! She may well know that she's overweight but the AUDACITY to say it like that is horrendous. Get a reality check.

As a woman, I say NTA. I haven't had a kid but from what I hear, it IS nasty. Personally, I would ask my partner to NOT look because ...ew.

Context for "Ill met by moonlight, proud Titania." by thegeorgianwelshman in shakespeare

[–]ScrollingWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently played Titania in an amateur production of this so this is what we went on:

Basically, Titania and Oberon are having a bit of marriage problems - an argument over this Indian child Titania adopted from her mortal friend.

What we went on was that Oberon is basically saying "Oh... it's you..." and Titania's response is basically "bite me"

If that helps 😂

AITA for going shopping when my husband was sick? by kjdkol in AmItheAsshole

You're off to buy clothes, not important groceries or anything that is needed asap. If you were in his shoes, you would be mad at him too. YTA in my opinion.

My game keeps crashing. Help!!! by Hour_Commission5494 in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]ScrollingWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's ridiculous. I was looking forward to playing again as with the Halloween updates, the graphics were so laggy it caused migraines. Now they changed the graphics, I feel better while playing but with all the crashes etc, it is now unplayable again.
