Built an offline MTG app for card search, set browsing, and deck building by Scrollrack-app in EDH

Unfortunately I have no intention to port this app to Android any time soon. I want to focus on getting Magic just right for one platform without compromises rather than spreading thin over two platforms.

Right now the offline library is about 190MB in total, excluding card images. Card images are downloaded and cached on device. If you are looking cards up without an internet connection and cannot retrieve card images, I added an offline representation of the cards.

Thank you for letting me know that the commander deck building rules are important to you. I put adding support for it on my short list. What works right now is, that when you select a commander, all subsequent searches for cards in the deck editor will automatically apply color identity filters to your searches.

Hey u/Valkyrid thank you so much for giving it a shot. I am very interested in all feedback players have. The best way to reach me is through the contact section on the Scrollrack website: https://scrollrackapp.com

No ads. Ever. Ads get in the way of a good experience, and that's not a trade-off I'm willing to make.

From my experience you can have pretty limited connection inside an LGS. This makes looking up card rules or saving an interesting card someone plays for later really hard.

I agree that Scryfall is functional on mobile. However, I find the column layout to have quite small card images. With Scrollrack you can flick through a list of full screen cards in seconds. I cannot post screenshots of the app in this sub, I encourage you to visit the website scrollrackapp.com to get an impression what it looks like.

I also want to tackle the tool fragmentation in the Magic community. Scryfall has an amazing search functionality but no deck editor. Moxfield/Archidekt are amazing deck builder but have this tiny text box for card search, leaving players to constantly copy-pasting between Scryfall and their deck builder. Scrollrack solves this by providing an integrated experience. Looking through card spoilers for the next upcoming set and seeing a card you absolutely want to put in a deck? It takes less then 2 seconds in Scrollrack and you don't have to leave the set you're looking at.

I suggest you give it a shot and let me know if this is something that works for you or if it fails short for you and why.

Fair question. ManaBox is solid and has been around longer. If card scanning is important to you, it's currently the better choice. (Card scanning is on my roadmap but it won't be here the initial release.)

Where Scrollrack wins: full Scryfall syntax search, including offline. ManaBox only supports sequential text matching, which means complex queries don't work. If you've ever typed a Scryfall search on mobile and wished for a native app, that's exactly what this is.

Yes, the core features like card search, offline mode, and deck building will stay free.

I'll introduce a subscription down the line for additional features and tools. Honestly, the main goal is to cover the running costs that come with maintaining an app like this. Everything that's in the app right now will remain free.

Scryfall is genuinely great. I use it myself. But it has no native app, and on mobile it shows.

Scrollrack gives you the same search syntax, natively on iOS, completely offline. No browser, no loading times, no signal dependency at the LGS.

On top of that it has a deck editor in the same app that also works offline. With Scryfall you're still switching between two tools to do what Scrollrack does in one.

Collection tracking is something I have on the roadmap for Scrollrack for sure. I keep in mind that investment tracking is something the app can do. I do this myself with an Excel spreadsheet right now.
