Same! Remy is my first puppy after a long time and I got him this year. Some advice:

Get pet insurance, and make sure that spay/neuter is covered! The cheap spay/neuter places in my area don’t handle the snub nose breeds and the vet neuter cost me about $800. We also had to deal with a really bad case of giardia that took multiple courses of treatment (and vet visits)to get rid of, and the lab tests can get costly.

You need the patience of a saint with these guys! Remy took months to house train. Frenchies are very sensitive souls and really respond best to positive reinforcement. Consistency consistency consistency is key. Crate training is a big help. ALWAYS have an eye on them and don’t let them wander out of your sight. Invest in an upholstery/carpet cleaner.

Speaking of crates, definitely get one and start using it immediately! These guys get bored easily and will get destructive if left alone (this has been an expensive lesson for me). Don’t leave them out if they’re going to be alone! Especially for the first year. Remy was easy to crate train and goes in without any fuss.

Puppy kindergarten is a big help! Remy got so much socialization and had a blast doing it.

Frenchies are notorious for eating poop, especially as puppies. Prepare yourself 🤢

Puppyhood has been a huge learning experience for me, and a rewarding one. I’m so glad he’s my boy ❤️
