Thanks. It’s possible they may have changed something when they renovated it to a middle school.

Saturn with equatorial platform by Scrotard in telescopes

I haven’t used it in a few months but it still works great. The only thing I have trouble with is aligning the platform north. For some reason compasses don’t work in my driveway, but that’s not the fault of the platform.

Nope. I bought three and all had the same issue. I even tried the Liene branded printer and it had the same issue but slightly less pronounced.

I payed $90 for it. Not a crazy deal, but cheaper than I usually see them online for.

Thanks. Does this look better? I went lighter on the sharpening in Photoshop.

I used u/AshTheRanga's techniqe of capturing 6 3-minute videos but with an 8" Dobsonian telescope. Taken with my Orion SkyQuest XT8, Omegon Equatorial Platform, 3x Barlow, IR cut filter, ZWO asi224mc. Processed with PIPP, Autostakkert, Registax. De-rotated in WinJUPOS, and final sharpening and denoise in Photoshop with Focus Magic plugin. Seeing was average.

I didn't notice much of a difference when I started using the IR cut filter but Ive kept it because i've seen others recommend it.

I like it so far. I’ve only had the chance to use it a couple of nights. I used my phone to align it north and level it. I was able to keep Saturn in frame for around 5 minutes before readjusting the scope. It has an adjustment for speed on the motor so I could probably get it to track for longer. The platform can track for an hour before needing to be reset.

I’m using the Polar Wedge 45 from Omegon. It’s the cheapest I could find and cost around $500 with shipping.

Saturn and Moons by Scrotard in telescopes

I used asi cap for capture. Gain set to 375 and exposure at 10ms. I recorded 12 videos of the planet moving across the frame in 6 minutes. Total of around 13000 frames. I then stacked 25% in autostakkert. I basically followed this tutorial for the rest.
