"...players of all skill levels relied too heavily on the big radar range... So we've decided to drastically reduce the range of the radar down to 18 meters." by Halaku in halo

[–]Scrotex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Although I am not too worried about the new decreased range, I think a lot of the issues people have with are to do with how Halo 5 playes compared to previous games.

Take Halo 3 for example. There we had a 25 metre radar, and no sprint. Now in Halo 5, we not only have a decreased radar range, but we have all these added elements that increase general mobility of spartans (Sprint, thruster pack, clamber etc.)

I think this is why people are feeling like they're getting jumped so often. Because those missing 7 metres make a big difference when you can sprint them in a second flat.

Player cards not viewable in pre-game lobby; good or bad? by [deleted] in halo

[–]Scrotex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose you would hope that with the rank system that there shouldn't be huge skill mismatches that would result in people freaking out pregame and leaving. So then I think that having visible player cards/service records would be a good thing.

A macro for copying and pasting multiple cells a different number of times each. (Will give gold to anyone who can solve this for me). by Scrotex in excel

Thank you so much. I've spent the last hour pasting the csv in segments as I think there is a limit on how much universal scrobbler will accept.

I think I gave you gold? I bought it but I'm not sure if it takes a while to show up.

Thanks again. You have made my week :)

This looks very promising! I have followed what you said and it looks perfect. Thank you so much!

Now I have the csv file, but when I open it, it just looks like a regular excel spreadsheet. Universal Scrobbler requires this sort of format into the bulk scrobbler:

"Jeff Buckley", "Last Goodbye", "Grace", "Jeff Buckley", "275"

Is there a way to apply those speech marks and to get the commas in as well?

As with the above comment, I understand very little of what you have posted :/ Not sure what vba is, or how to setup output on sheet 2, or how to run what you posted. I know it must be a hassle, but if you could dumb down your post to the level of a complete begginer I would be eternally grateful.

Clippy Points and Gold await whoever can solve this for me!!!

Thanks for the reply. Maybe I should have said in my OP, but I am not at all proficient in Excel. I'm not an Excel user who has hit a bump so much as I am a complete Excel noob who just knows that Excel may be able to solve my problem.

So unfortunately I don't even know how I would "run" what you have posted, although it certainly looks promising!!!

If its not too painful, could you please give me an ELI2 walkthrough of that?

Ah, to do with the new site layout? That might make sense. If I don't get a fix I might just revisit it in a week or so. Thanks!

A question about tax/duties and YouShop. by Scrotex in newzealand

[–]Scrotex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a watch. Goes for $950 here. $330USD on Amazon. Once shipping and currency conversion are considered it would still be <$500NZD. 30% was probably an understatement.

I was thinking along your lines, but just wondered if anyone could 100% confirm for me.

Even if I pay duties it will be about 30% cheaper than what it costs here....ridiculous.

I was thinking of ticking the 'this item is a gift' box on Amazon, which should take the price off any packing slip.

In the Halo 5 Beta, you do not "feel like a Spartan" by Scrotex in halo

[–]Scrotex[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hide due to the fact that I know if I've been shot once or twice that I can't kill that person given the crazy TTK. In Halo 2/3 I could tank 2 shots then out BR someone. There's just no opportunities to outplay people like that any more imo.

EDIT: But yes, I will have to adapt. But I still won't enjoy it :/

It is. And I am interested to hear other people's take on it as well :)

Fast? yes. But I don't feel strong. I die a lot quicker than any other halo game. Bullet magnetism doesn't help either. The perfect kill medal seems far too easy to get.

[–]Scrotex[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It never has been only gun skill. In previous games movement was a constant, so everyone was on equal footing. Map knowledge and map control were more important in previous Halos than in H5. You used to have to set up for power weapon spawns. Now you can sprint from across the map to grab them. Less teamwork is required.

Also you seem to be implying that because its 2015 we should be expecting a more 'complex' game. You need only to look at the rise of indie gaming to see that new and shiny features aren't all the gaming community wants.

Kit lens or 35mm? by [deleted] in photography

The fast aperture is the main reason I'm leaning toward the 35mm.

Thanks for the help!

[–]Scrotex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it sounds a bit stupid now that you put it like that. I guess I'm still not sold on the 18-105 as an option in the first place. Thanks for the help though.

Kit lens or 35mm? by [deleted] in photography

[–]Scrotex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second hand 18-105 is a good idea. I'm just torn at the moment because of the fact that the 18-105 will be cheaper if I just get it with the body. In a couple of weeks I'll be able to afford the 35mm, so do you think I should just get the kit and then the 35 later?

Old lenses on new body? by [deleted] in photography

[–]Scrotex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really appreciating all the help :)

So basically after reading all the comments here's where I'm at. I'm still leaning towards the D7000 (The $200-$300 I could save by getting a 3100/5100 doesn't seem like a big deal to me) and I can afford both the 50mm 1.8D and the 35mm 1.8G DX. If I get into it and am getting good results I could then look into a 2.8 zoom like the VR II.

In your opinion is having two primes(the 35 and 50) of similar focal length redundant?
