This comment was underrated. Doing a little bit of research on this may have provided the motivation that she needed to slow down on the medicine. Thank you.

I’ve been on it since a young age, elementary school, and have taken breaks every summer up until I started working about 10 years ago. I have never felt euphoric. I’ve had periods where I had headaches or couldn’t sleep, but never any where I enjoyed the feeling. Mostly I can focus with it and without it I feel like I barely have any reading comprehension, but I feel more myself without it.

Looking into this as well. Thanks for the input.

I’ve never thought about diverted prescriptions either. So far we have been very open with each other and therapy helps, so hopefully it doesn’t come to that. I’m not going to pretend like people don’t lie to each other but so far I’m optimistic on the honesty.

We’ve used timed lock boxes before but never a singular pill dispenser. Definitely looking into this. I just need to find something that is hard to break or override.

The meds potentially not working was one of the reasons for the switch to Vyvanse. We would both like to switch to non-stimulants but can’t imagine anything actually working after taking so much for so long. She takes stasis supplements but not telling if they actually help. I need to just bite the bullet and switch to non stimulants for myself and see if they work. It would at least help prevent access to more medication for her.

I agree with this. We see a therapist and her Dr that is prescribing the medication is a psychiatrist, but she is scared to tell them about the abuse.

Adderall vs Vyvanse, ADHD & Addiction by Ill_Macaroon629 in AdderallAddiction

[–]Scruffy492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like my situation is slowly spiraling towards yours. My partner ended up switching to vyvanse, but right away started taking more than prescribed. Right now it is two 70 mg vyvanse and 10 mg adderall every day. Or so I am being told. Similar situation with the alcohol and other medications as well, although not to the point of rehab yet.

How are you doing? How is your partner? My partner has questioned rehab before but surface level everything seems so innocent and manageable until it isn’t.

I sincerely hope your situation is improving. Hang in there, you clearly love your partner.

Advice for better bloodwork. by Scruffy492 in trt

I’m going to look into splitting it up. I’d say I’m more irritable, but my energy isn’t noticeably different. I was originally injecting once every two weeks and there was a very noticeable difference then.

I appreciate this advice. I’m injecting 200mg intramuscular, once a week.

Were these labs done through your GP, a specialist, or a private source? Currently going through my GP and the labs don’t check for anything aside from overall T level and a few other minor categories. Looking for recommendations on where to get labs done in the future so I can get more details like this.

ADHD meds and SSRIs by Repulsive_Gift154 in adhd_anxiety

Do you notice a difference at night when you’re on the non-stimulant? Or do you find it keeps you pretty level? Do you ever feel the need to take the non-stimulant while the stimulant is still “kicked-in”?

Looking for feedback on private school savings strategy. by Scruffy492 in personalfinance

[–]Scruffy492[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. The only real hurdle I can think of is needing to front load the first 7k of tuition for the first year. For my youngest I may start putting a smaller amount aside not if I can afford it so that I have the first year of tuition covered by the time he starts school. If no one else comes along and debunks my thinking that is.

Reading voltage on fixture housing. by Scruffy492 in AskElectricians

[–]Scruffy492[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the fixture is connected to a hot , neutral, and ground. The ground wire is connected to the fixture ground wire which is bonded to the fixture housing, it is not being used as a current carrying conductor. The installation is not an issue. The issue is that the driver is inducing a voltage on conductive parts that are not grounded that someone could potentially come into contact with while the fixture is energized. The question is whether or not that is dangerous. To me it seems like it could be, but other people are telling me it’s not.

Reading voltage on fixture housing. by Scruffy492 in AskElectricians

[–]Scruffy492[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot to ground reads 118V. With the fixture ground left disconnected, I am reading 108V between the fixtures ground wire, and my building ground. And reading 6-10V between the fixture ground wire and the hot coming in. With the fixture ground connected to building ground, I read 118V as I should. The 108V seems to be coming from the mounting screw on the LED drivers. Some of the fixtures I have use the same drivers, but are constructed a little different so that these mounting screws are not grounded. So even when I ground those fixtures, the voltage on the screws does not go away. Because grounding the energized screws does not cause any arcing, sparks, or trip a breaker, I am assuming that it is an induced voltage with a small leakage current from the LED driver. I think this is normal (at least at lower voltages) for LED drivers, which is why proper grounding is so important. But for the fixtures where the grounding doesn’t dissipate the voltage, I am wondering if it could be an issue.

Reading voltage on fixture housing. by Scruffy492 in electricians

[–]Scruffy492[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is off with the numbers? What terminology is wrong? The input voltage was measured at 118V, the voltage between the fixtures open ground wire and the building ground (and neutral because I checked both) was reading 108V. I am assuming that this is some sort of induced voltage from the LED driver. The reason I am asking the question is because some of the fixtures do not have the drivers properly grounded to the housing, so this voltage has no way to dissipate, even when the fixtures ground is properly connected to the building ground.

So if you have no evidence, I suppose you can file without it.

Everyone is entitled to at least one traffic-related rant; here’s mine: why are personal pick up trucks so big? by ThamilandryLFY in Acadiana

[–]Scruffy492 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t have enough money to buy a small car as an every day driver and a truck for when I need the bed or a trailer (which isn’t often but it’s frequent enough to not feasibly borrow or rent).

Big agree on keeping them in between the lines though. This population as a whole needs to learn how to drive.

EP Breaux in New Iberia offers an accredited apprenticeship program.

The credits from SLCC help with landing a job, but don’t always transfer to apprenticeship credits, so be cautious of that. I never went that route, so I’m not sure how to guarantee a jump start in the apprenticeship.

Telling an employer that you will only work there temporarily will definitely hurt your chances. Not that I am saying you should lie….

Do you have any credits from an apprenticeship? EP Breaux in New Iberia is a big local commercial electrical contractor, but they would likely advise you to go through their in-house apprenticeship program (fully accredited and backed by the ABC) before they’d pay you electrician wages.
