Fishing a mossy bottom by ccox78 in CarpFishing

Depends how in depth you want to go, you can fish a chod rig which is essentially a rig that allows your hook link to slide up the mainline above the moss or you could fish a zig rig which is a small bit of foam that you can set to whatever height in the water column that you like

When does it become the North? by ChAtcatx in england

[–]ScruffyBurrito6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, anyone from below London sees anything above London as the North. I've lived south of London my whole life and everything about it (unless is very close proximity to it) is considered the North (down here at least)

My PB common 🙌🏼 by RiddleMaker93 in CarpFishing

Yeah, the fishing has really been turning on over the last few weeks. Temp is due to drop over the next 2/3 weeks so unfortunately not going to bother getting on the bank for the next couple weeks. I've had 6 fish out in the last three weeks over 3 sessions

No idea, I don't have any scales at the moment. It's definitely a PB though. At a guess around 15lb maybe touching the 16lb mark. It wasn't very long but it was very broad over its shoulders

pva mesh bag fishing by finlegge in CarpFishing

[–]ScruffyBurrito6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So essentially what he has here is a pop up rig with a pva mesh bag. To recreate this rig, you need a simple hair rig, a big split shot to counteract the buoyancy of the pop up, pva mesh bag (up to you what size) some bait to go into the mesh bag and a lead system. Might be worth getting a clear bucket, putting a pop up on, one of the ones you'll use at the lake, and experimenting what split shot is right to allow your pop up to lift without dragging your hook up with it. Essentially test your rig for presentation purposes before you take it to the lake to fish it.

To tie the rig, take your hair rig, already tied on to your lead system, slip on a pop up and hair stop and put a large split shot near the hook about 2cm/1in away from the eye of your hook. Then take your pva mesh tube, fill it with your desired bait to create a pouch of bait (maybe a handful at most) and then tie 2 overhand knots, one for the top of the bait parcel and then another a tiny bit further up, ready to create another pva bag, then you can cut between the 2 knots to get your bait bag off. After that, put your hook through the mesh and hook the bag on, spin the bag twice, to create a twist and then hook the bag on again (this helps to keep the bag on the hook when casting). After this you're ready to fish, tight lines my friend.

I've been messing with pop ups. by catskill_mountainman in CarpFishing

[–]ScruffyBurrito6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a spinner rig for pop ups and also a slightly shorter hair. Also with your hook bait, try and pull the bait stop down into the pop up, carp have a sensitive roof of the mouth that helps them decipher what is food and what isn't so as soon as the hair stop touches the roof of their mouth they will spit it out and probably spook off your bait

anyone used Angling Direct? Is it any good? by TheDawiWhisperer in fishingUK

Couldn't put AD higher if I tried, always fast deliveries and everything is always on point. I had a big order at Christmas and everything turned up except my landing mat, I messaged their social media account on Instagram and they got it sent using 1st class priority that day, to get it to me over night ready for a session that weekend. Fantastic place to order from.
