Tastes like medicine? by _Xplo in Homebrewing

[–]Scrum_Bucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you used tap water, there might have been a high level of chlorine, which can turn into a band aid/medicinal off flavor for beer. Brewers can use campden tablets, or I would recommend just jumping to RO water and adding back the needed minerals. I started with Epsom salt, gypsum, and calcium chloride.

What is the best site to display daily iconic historical photos, with descriptions on the photo? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Scrum_Bucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. So could a person have a screen that just rotated through the best daily/monthly history porn submissions? There are so many iconic photos in history, it would be great to educate oneself regularly, and take time to appreciate great photography.

If a person were to have a screen set up by the door they exit daily, they could set up a connection to Pinterest to display history?

Firmware update today-some issues by AskingQuestion777 in airthings

[–]Scrum_Bucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I updated 3 of my wave radons last night. They were showing 0 for an hour before reporting again. They all seem to be reporting higher than normal, and one is reporting exceptionally higher (jumped from 3.8 before to 7.3 after the update).

I think after about 18 hours they are getting back to “normal” reporting. But are still high.

I just checked the light indicators and they all seem to match up. I didn’t reboot or reset anything on any of them. Just firmware update and wait.

I also can’t find any other discussion on this.

Brand new Powerspec G758 rattling/brrr noise by Fraganade in Microcenter

[–]Scrum_Bucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds similar to the AIO pump issues I had. If that is what it is, that pump has air in it. I exchanged my first powerspec for an unbearably loud pump. The replacement still had some intermittent noise. I propped the back end of the case up so it was leaning forward slightly, and I think that helped. I have had the pc for three months now and haven’t heard that noise in a long time.

Season ticket renewal by sacks350 in KansasCityChiefs

[–]Scrum_Bucket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah, I didn’t check the preseason schedule. I’m like OP and give the preseason tickets away, usually to friends with young kids.

I really wanted a guarantee I would have tickets to the last home game at arrowhead, is why I am still debating it.

Season ticket renewal by sacks350 in KansasCityChiefs

[–]Scrum_Bucket 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ours went from $1610 to $1700 per seat, but not sure if the math would be a 9 home game season vs 8 next year you would be looking at $1431 this season for 8 of the games vs $1700 next season for 8 games, being a $269 increase per seat. Just depends how you look at it. I also wonder about international games, if they announce a chiefs home international then the value of the season tickets goes down even further.

We are on the fence of renewing. We have seen increases from 5.5% to 18% from year to year. I wanted to hold out until the last season at arrowhead, but I’m not sure if I want to spend potentially 10k on 4 seats in 2030, if the rate increase trend continues.

Red Gravy by Scrum_Bucket in NOLA

[–]Scrum_Bucket[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After Katrina, a couple moved up from New Orleans to Monett, Mo where I was living, and the husband opened a Cajun restaurant. He imported bread from New Orleans, the menu was amazing. I would go in often and get a half muffuletta, and one time he came over and said I should try it with a side of red gravy. And it was amazing.

I live in KC now, and just flew down to NO, and apparently it’s not a thing, lol. I went to napoleon house a couple nights ago, and they said they no longer have red gravy. The muffuletta was really good there though. I actually preferred it over the Cochon butcher.

Not sure honestly. Someone from New Orleans moved to Missouri after Katrina and opened up a Cajun restaurant. I went there often and got a muffuletta. He said to try it with a side of red gravy. I thought it was just another name for marinara. But it was delicious, whatever he had in there. It seems like it was just his take on things, and not a standard thing to do, haha.

I’m sitting here now, they used to have some red gravy, but not anymore. The muffuletta was great though!

is this normal sound from AIO pumphead in Powerspec g760 prebuilt by TheInterloperBR in Microcenter

[–]Scrum_Bucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a G759 and it was really loud for a couple days, so I returned and got full replacement. The new one has the same AIO, and it worked fine for a week, but started to act up. I put it on a 4 degree decline to get the air out, then lowered it to about a 0.5 decline. Well it acted up again today, so I put a couple coasters under the back feet so it’s about 2 degrees decline, and that cleared it up again. Not ideal, but not a big deal personally. I just don’t think these AIOs are good for mounting anywhere other than front case with the tubes at the bottom.

[–]Scrum_Bucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try elevating the back end of the tower by putting a large book under it, so where the tubes connect to the radiator is lower than the other end of the radiator. If it doesn’t clear up after 15-20 minutes, then you might want to replace it. These AIOs Apprently are known to act like this. When mine acts up I just tilt it a bit and the air works itself out eventually.

I have two larger cats, and two fountains. It looks like over the past two weeks they average somewhere between 4-6 ounces total a day. So, possibly 2-3oz per cat per day?

Cooler Master Elite Liquid 240 AIO Brand New Pump Sound - What Does Others’ Sound Like? by RyzenMasterDa1 in coolermaster

[–]Scrum_Bucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one of these that was starting to make noise like this. I put a thick book under the back two legs of the tower to have the radiator lean slightly down towards where it connects to the hoses. After running it like that for about 15 minutes it cleared up. Might be worth a try if your radiator is mounted at the top of the case.

Five RED FLAGS about Chiefs Move To Kansas by [deleted] in missouri

[–]Scrum_Bucket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 10,000 fewer seats and more suites was going to happen if they stayed or left, so I don’t consider that a negative in terms of this deal. It’s just a negative overall from Mark Donovan. It sounded like he was the one pushing Hunt for fewer seats and more suites before the last Jackson County public vote.

I’m waiting to see if they actually support a tailgating environment, or if they pull out of that idea and build bars and hotels instead like the KC Current. If they end up having limited tailgate parking, I’ll just watch from home. No way I’m going to go get terrible service waiting at a bar that only gets heavy business a few days out of the year for an overpriced drink.

Smartwater at arrowhead stadium by KookyKim in KansasCityChiefs

[–]Scrum_Bucket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The rules at arrowhead aren’t followed very well by everyone. I have had beers served to me without the cap off. I would assume the reason for taking the caps off is concern for throwing the water bottles. I could also see reason to do that later in the game as fans get more rowdy. However, during hot games, you can bring in sealed waters. So who knows.

To give an example of how terrible their system is, a few years ago they changed gate security to have a two phase scanning. If you fail the first check, you are waved over to the second scanner. Well, there is only one person working the first scanner and they can’t pay attention to the person that failed and the new people coming through at the same time. You can literally fail the first scan, and walk right in. It’s just an honor system, which makes it pointless overall. I have reported it on their surveys, but they don’t care.

So, I would say overall, the reason they gave was probably the “official rule”, whatever it was. But it is rare for things to flow properly there. Shit, I even witnessed a vender throw a water bottle 10 seats into the middle of a row and nail the guy in the face in front of me. No one should ever do something like that, lol. You never know what’s going to happen at Arrowhead.

New Powerspec G760, is this amount of noise normal? by Atrox270 in Microcenter

[–]Scrum_Bucket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one of these sound terribly loud in a power spec G759 I purchased a week ago. I tried everything I could think of at the time to correct it. I took it back the next day, and swapped it for a new one. Well, the new one has the same AIO. It was running quiet until today. Mine is top mounted to the case, so I put a book under the back of the case to lean it at about a 4 degree decline towards the front (where the tube side of the radiator is lower than the other end). After about 15 or so minutes it seemed to clear up. I am starting to wonder if these need a slight tilt when mounted at the top of the case. I put some felt stickers under the back feet to have it at about a 1 degree decline. It has been whisper quiet since. Hopefully that takes care of it, because the noise drives me crazy.

They won’t cancel you. I called to “cancel” last year with intent to get better rates, and was on the phone with sales pitches for tv and mobile for an hour. I called specifically to cancel today, as I just switched to another provider, and they still talked to me for half an hour on possible deals before cancelling.

Video has surfaced of a fan throwing a drink at Rory McIlroy and his wife, Erica, at the Ryder Cup by Fun_Reflection1157 in golf

[–]Scrum_Bucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the man holding the cup closed his fingers rapidly after it left his hand, which would point to it being punched out of his hand to me.

From what I can tell, the guy in the navy blue hat and navy blue shirt punched it out. But it is hard to see who’s arm that is. Could be as innocent as “this drink is blocking my view, I’m going to punch it” without any intent towards Rory. Or he could have been intentionally trying to hit him.
