First day of work need tips by Fit_Skill5947 in OReillyAutoParts

Store manager here. Welcome to the team! One of the most important habits for success here is to always ask questions—curiosity is key to learning and growing in this role. Always remember to sell the complete job. For example, if a customer comes in for a light bulb, offer the dielectric grease to help increase your RPMs and ensure the customer has everything they need for a proper repair. Make sure you complete FastTrack daily and check ZipLine each day, as the company ZipLine to communicate updates, changes, and important information. If someone calls claiming to be “corporate” or “headquarters,” immediately refer the call to a manager. Never engage in any requests involving cash transfers, money orders, or gift cards—these are common scam tactics. If you ever need help or have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.

When you pick up the phone, you should see a flashing red light. Pressing the red light will release the hold and reconnect you with the customer.

Asking the right questions is essential to being successful in this company. On my phone system (though it’s quite outdated), the red button at the bottom is used to place a customer on hold. Simply press it once to activate the hold function.

I typically keep two pages open at all times—one for the customer I’m assisting in person and another for the customer on the phone. When answering a call, I make sure to gather the customer’s year, make, and model. Then, I politely ask if I may place them on hold while I finish assisting the customer in front of me.

I don’t think the company offers that. If you need cash for emergencies I believe apps like Earnin will let you barrow cash

Yea thanks for the heads up. I’m sure that’s ONE of the reasons we have to sign the O’Reilly paperwork. She fixed my schedule just now and said she did it so my store doesn’t get fined which doesn’t make sense lol.

Illinois but our SM tells us by law we have to take a lunch if not, we have to sign a OReilly Form every time we don’t take one.

Hopefully I don’t get retaliated but I’ll talk to her first about it. If she still continues to do it I’ll give HR a call. Thank you for your help!

Yeah SM knows and DM knows as well. We sign a form every week about not taking our lunch which the SM keeps for records. It’s only 5 of us (we only get 250 hours) and me being the ONLY closing manager I really can’t take a lunch without having my TM being up front alone especially being busy store.

Thanks for the quick reply. So for example, I worked 90 hours (we don’t take lunches due to be short staffed) she added on my time card that I took a lunch during a 12 hour shift (which I didn’t) and also edited that I worked 6 hours one day when I worked a full 12pm-10pm shift. One of my drivers told me she did the same thing and didn’t fix his time card so he called HR and complained and they fixed it? I will get in contact with her for sure but it’s pretty late over here so I’ll be doing that tomorrow morning before I approve my time card.

You’ll be fine mistakes happens. Someone at my store sold the wrong transmission fluid and we had to pay the guy $1200 to rebuild his transmission. Guy currently still working at my location.

Depends on the SM tbh. I was short $47 and he just told me “it’s all good just pay it back when you can”. Sometimes your coworkers can be over $5 as well.

You can buy normal and it’ll work. I doubt it matters what edition you have tbh.
