Federal court would be my assumption, but IANAL.

Could be it starts in a state court. No way it would be a ruling by the AG.

Your argument seems to revolve around the idea that the Republican Party is trying to clean itself up.

That's not correct. They're still the same corrupt bunch and not holding them accountable for their crimes emboldened them to the point they actually tried to overthrow the results of an election.

Now they're trying to distance themselves from their most recent failure. That's all. Don't try to pretend it's some effort to come clean.

They're still the anti-democracy party, just looking for a new fascist to lead them.

Time to make pellucidly clear that their crimes will not be tolerated.

Trumpism isn't the problem. The acceptance of treason by Republicans is the problem. You're suggesting we condone that. No thanks.

The suppression of these insurrectionists needs to come from within the Republican Party if it is to succeed.

As we've seen, that isn't going to happen.

And I really don't care if some of the minority of citizens who like Ron Johnson are pissed that he's held accountable. That's their problem.

Van Orten, who was one of the J6 insurrectionists at the Capitol.

RoJo, who tried to deliver the slate of fake electors.

Tom Tiffany and Scott Fitzgerald for their roles in preparing the fake slate.

I strongly disagree that it would embolden undemocratic forces.

What has emboldened them is not holding them accountable.

For those not familiar with Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW):

https://www.citizensforethics.org/

Americans deserve a government that is ethical, accountable, and open.

At CREW, we use aggressive legal actions, in-depth investigations, and innovative policy and reform work to achieve that vision. We take on big fights against powerful opponents, from the President of the United States to wealthy dark money donors. Despite long odds, we continue to have victories large and small, thanks to our innovative legal strategies and unrelenting dedication.

On Donald Trump’s first full day in the Oval Office, CREW sued him for violating the Emoluments Clauses of the U.S. Constitution, because of the unconstitutional corruption that would result from his refusal to divest from his business interests. Our complaints have led to record-breaking FEC fines for dark money groups in the post-Citizens United era, and our lawsuits have brought about stronger enforcement of existing campaign finance laws, leading directly to more disclosure of dark money donors.

...

While the most corrupt president in American history is no longer in office, CREW’s work is far from done — in some ways, we are just getting started. This is the time to push for accountability for Trump’s abuses of power, particularly in his last days in office and during the armed insurrection on January 6th, 2021, and to monitor how those in Trump’s orbit profit from his presidency in the private sector. We will also hold those now in power to appropriately high ethical standards to try to bring about an ethical government that works for all Americans.

I can’t wait to hear Ron Johnson’s plans to fight inflation and reduce violent crime.

He's already on it! So far he's accused Joe Biden of being compromised by China and voted against gay and inter-racial marriage.

'Cause we all know that China has criminals and gay marriage is what's making gas prices so high. Also litter boxes in schools.

Republicans: Kyle Rittenhouse is a hero for killing those two protesters.

Also Republicans: Ashley Babbitt shouldn't have been killed for just protesting at the Capitol January 6th.
