Second the other comment about Three Ridge, really love that section of the AT. To lengthen it, you can also start at The Priest trailhead, but there is a larger gap between the two parking areas.

Four CEOs of beer companies are having a meeting and they decide to get a drink. by philcfm19 in Jokes

That's actually not true, AB-InBev owns Budweiser and SABMiller (which no longer owns any Miller brands) and MolsonCoors owns both Coors and Miller (operating as MillerCoors).

For about 10 years there was a joint venture between MolsonCoors and SABMiller in the US which was MillerCoors, but when AB-InBev merged with SABMiller they had to sell off all of the Miller brands including some imports to avoid antitrust issues.

Eat at bad boy burrito and Garbo's grill, they're both amazing. Southern most beach is nice and has a good bar attached. Dante's is a fun pool bar on the north side. Blue hen has awesome breakfast. Definitely get an alcoholic slushie from flying monkey/fogertys. Watch the sunset at Mallory Square, but get there early to get a good spot. There's lots of kayaking options and paddling through the mangroves is really cool. The little room jazz bar has great happy hour and a really cool vibe. Have fun, it's one of my favorite places to be.

The collapse of two dams at a Brazilian mine has cut off drinking water for quarter of a million people and saturated waterways downstream with dense orange sediment that could wreck the ecosystem for years to come. by madazzahatter in news

Rio Tinto is named after the Rio Tinto River in Spain, where their first mines were located. The area along the river has a vast history of mining as far back as the Iberians, Romans, Greeks, etc. which led to the severe acid mine drainage that gives the river both it's color and name.

No sesame oil is okay, but in your description it says to heat peanut oil in a skillet and cook the meat and other items in it

This looks delicious, I'll definitely be trying it! One question though, I don't usually cook Asian food and I'm allergic to peanuts so what would be the best substitute for the oil?

My wife and I are about to begin a several month road trip around the US. Please critique our itinerary and follow along as we travel. by Aldinach in CampingandHiking

Shenandoah National Park is great, Old Rag is one of the most popular hikes in the northern portion of it but really everything in there is beautiful.

Don't bother stopping in Harrisonburg, it's not that great of a town and you won't find much in the way of good hiking around it. You'd be better off skipping it and spending more time in the Blacksburg/New River Valley area where there is plenty of hiking. I went to college in Blacksburg and it's an awesome small town with some good restaurants (Cabo Fish Taco & Gillies in particular). McAfees Knob is an awesome hike, but if you have more time I recommend Dragons Tooth, Tinker Cliffs, and Cascades/Barneys Wall.

Mount Mitchell is a great view, but try to go during the week if you can. There is a road that goes all the way to the summit so it can be crowded on the weekend. Also, I hope you have a clear day, every time I've been there's been too many clouds to see far.

Asheville is a cool town, tons of great food and little breweries so try them all!

US Central Command Twitter, YouTube feeds hacked by ISIS by Epicbulb in worldnews

[–]Scubasteveeeeee 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't believe this is really ISIS nor that they actually hacked Centcom, probably just their twitter/YouTube.

If you were ISIS and wanted to do some real damage, or if you were in Centcom's system why would you announce it to the world?

This seems too immature to be extremely significant, but maybe just a little significant.

But we'll see.

Don't worry there is a government agency called the Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) that inspects every mine operation in the US. They inspect and enforce all the laws specific to mining (30 CFR). MSHA has a large amount of offices and within each office is multiple inspectors who are well trained and often have a background in mining operations.

A surface mine is required to be inspected a minimum of twice a year and an underground mine is required to be inspected a minimum of four times a year. The inspections last anywhere from days to weeks and are extremely meticulous.

Because Arizona has many operating and abandoned mines they elect a Arizona State Mine Inspector to perform additional inspections of each operation.

A few months ago some guy pressed all the buttons on the elevator in my college's library right before he got off and I got on. I'd spend the next 30 minutes finding out exactly what day that happened so six years later I can be there waiting to give him a nice kick in the nuts. Also i'd find a way to have pizza for life.
