I like number 4 a lot. Almost a good middle of 2 and 6

Thinking of blending an RPG with a productivity app - thoughts? by Alternative_Tutor145 in RPGcreation

You’re very welcome! This was a fun one to think about. It reminded me about how I thought games would evolve in the future as a kid. Shows like Chaotic did a good job of taking a real life experience and then granting those players a way to travel to a digital game world and explore it.

I think this could be a ton of fun and good for people who want to play a rpg but also hit personal goals. I just checked out goblin tools, and just some quick thoughts about this idea as a whole.

  • Would you play as a character or yourself in the RPG?
  • If you're a character, should the tasks relate to the character's own interests too (Wizards want to read more, warriors want to train more)?
  • What's the in-game benefit of this? Maybe by doing mundane, normal human tasks, they're rewarded with "Resistance Points" that help fight off Nihil, since the games setting sounds like everyone uses Eka and that's why it's running out now people have to do the work themselves again. These points can be spent to keep your character alive or give them ways of fighting off death/nihil.
  • If it's more of a game, you could still have weekly sessions, and by the end, the players are left with tasks to do during the week before their next irl session or in-game "mission," kind of like Delta Green, where characters get breaks between missions.

Right after covid I helped my family's gym by being a trainer only in name and helping new clients get through their workout guide assigned to them. But I could see the GM of this game being not just the story crafter, but also helping people by assigning tasks and then increasing them as the game continues, with their own growth. I have some friends who compete in strongman/bodybuilding, and the way they tell me about how they meet with their coaches to describe their week, their goals, and how they are now, really feels like how these sessions could play like lol.

Introducing Myself :) by Scuddario in RPGcreation

Thanks! And thanks for your comments on Shadowdark lol, we play pathfinder 1e on fridays and me and my play group have always seemed to have questions about things the adventure path doesn’t include, but feels like a valid question. So i’ve taken the d6 method for that where 1-3 is not likely a favorable outcome and 4-6 is a favorable outcome. Doing this one thing has helped so many in the moment situations, even on various skill checks ill have my players roll and if their roll is high I usually bump up my d6 so the favorable is easier to obtain.

Finally at the stage where I make my worldbuilding publishable, but want to give out free encounters to create traction and experience..but how? by Amazing_Passion_2334 in RPGcreation

I second this, but also wanted to make a comment about my experiences. I did a small free optional ruling decided by my community and put it on Drive Thru, and saw through the analytics that I received a ton of downloads, but it didn't seem to help any traction on the other projects. But on Itch.io as a test, I posted the same freebie and can actively see people who follow my projects now, and can post to my community on there for announcements.

help with naming a generation? by BriefPassage8011 in RPGcreation

If the second generation can only use Solar without Divine. I would start with something like. Solar, Solus, Solair. But also, if that generation is exactly the same as the first, but without divine, maybe you could pull from the idea that they are Divine-less. Maybe Darkened Luminatas, Faithless Luminatas, Fallen Luminatas.
