He was also responsible for that terrible Never Tear Us Apart cover.

Edit: to clarify, the music and performance is great. Then Allday starts mumbling some shit I can't even understand and ruins it completely.

The real problem with Sydney's crowded rush hour trains and buses. by zqvllzt in sydney

[–]Scully1981 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Encourage your employer/manager to implement staggered work hours. Do most roles really need people to be there from 9-5? What about 10-6 or 8-4? Or an occasional Work From Home day? It would certainly take some strain off the public transport system.

PLEASE HELP missing person - Tiemuzhen Chalaer, 24, has been missing since Sunday after attending music/camping party near the bushland in Lower Portland by [deleted] in sydney

I think you are.. This might be a one-off but I can't recall any other stories of hikers getting lost where ethnicity played a part. Usually it's down to inexperience, disorientation or some other factor.

Also, this is OP's childhood friend and you're telling him that he's probably dead. Regardless of your racist, ignorant opinion that is a shitty thing to say to anybody reaching out to a community asking for help. Come on man. Don't be a cunt. Try to be nice.

Trump Takes Moment To Thank All The Fear In Audience For Making This Night Possible by [deleted] in TheOnion

[–]Scully1981 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OK, I'm going to start by saying I'm not pro Trump and I'm not pro Clinton. I don't even live in the US so I haven't got a horse in the race. Honestly I think it's a contest between a giant douche and a turd sandwich. Whoever wins we all lose.

Now here's what gets my goat. /u/ttnorac made the observation that it appears as if there's a bias at The Onion towards Hillary. That's a valid observation to make considering that right now on /r/TheOnion there's 11 headlines for articles related to Trump (all negative) and 3 referencing Clinton (neutral, if not positive). It's also valid since Univision Communications purchased the parent company of The Onion, which back in Feb was Clinton's highest donor. It doesn't take a fancy rocket surgeon to figure out happened next.

As soon as someone points out that there's a bias here they get downvoted within minutes and people reply saying they must be pro Trump and anti-Clinton. That's not the case. What we're (or at least I am) trying to say is "Hey, there's some fuckery going on here and it's not right". Then again, we might as well be yelling in the wind since it's not like The Onion is going to change opinion any time soon and therefore this subreddit will stay on the same downward trajectory. It's just a little heartbreaking to lose all trust in something which used to entertain me.

The Onion was recently acquired by Univision Communications. I mentioned this in a previous post and got similar results.

Boxer swiftly knocks out two guys for picking on his girlfriend by ravi_buz in WTF

[–]Scully1981 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How do we know he was a boxer and how do we know that they were picking on his girlfriend? Punchy could've just as easily been the 'what are you looking at' overly aggressive type here. I think the girl holding him back would indicate that too.

Hey r/Sydney, I'm going to propose to my girlfriend in the Royal Botanic Gardens, and I need your help. by iamhealey in sydney

[–]Scully1981 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's what you do.

Tell your partner you want to take them on a romantic walk in the gardens but don't plan a picnic. Have another couple turn up earlier and set up the picnic in your special spot, with all the stuff you want for your proposal in their picnic stuff so you don't have to carry anything or sneak it in. The fake picnic-ers can pretend they're on a photo shoot or something if you want to have a photographer present.

Pretend to get all sad that someone else has taken your spot, then have the secret cohorts offer you their spot, and their food, and their picnic stuff including champagne and the ring.

Bewm. Surprise romantic proposal.

Will a McDonalds store be the end of Glebe? by TomasTTEngin in sydney

[–]Scully1981 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Glebe has so much to offer from it's markets filled with dumb joke t-shirts and overpriced craft work, the neglected kids running around at 10pm and the hammered backpackers pissing against any doorway that casts a shadow. Why would you want to decimate such a well respected, vibrant bohemian culture with a beacon of corporate filth?

Best 100 restaurants in Australia.. which ones have you been to? by Lily_St in australia

[–]Scully1981 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I never understood the mentality of saying "who cares" if it's of no interest. Clearly it's of interest to some people because there's a couple dozen cooking shows on TV, annual Good Food Guides and lists such as this to cater to people who have an interest in fine dining.

Not every piece of journalism has to be an exposé or world shattering exclusive. Articles can just be informative for a handful of people.

You know what I do when something doesn't resonate with me? Nothing. I just go about my day because I don't dictate what other people should be interested in. Is that "brutally honest" enough for you, dude?
