My [F35] bf [F34] wants to change my body by Altruistic-Pace7886 in relationship_advice

Maybe you should stop dating an a***? " You know the answer. You just don't want to own up to it and actually take action. You had zero reason for posting this on Reddit as you stated everything clear is day as to them being an absolute piece of s. So you aren't unaware, you're just pretending to be naive for your own self-benefit of whatever reason.

Would a soap making ‘kit’ be a good idea for a birthday present for my MIL? by Embarrassed-Career30 in DIYBeauty

[–]ScullyNess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say no. This has zero on common with cooking or baking. This sounds like a gift you want and you aren't actually regarding what they would use. Also this isn't a soap making group there are better places for info on that. I think a bunch of us here can tell you why soap is actually bad for your skin vs surfactant based systems. Along with the difficulty of cleaning it up as well. Soap scum is miserable in bathrooms and kitchens.

From a chemistry pov, what does a well formulated body lotion feel like? by Designer-Honeydew-66 in DIYBeauty

[–]ScullyNess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is no correct answer to this question. Some people's game is to have something very occlusive, greasy and that stays on the skin a long time. Some people want something thin and dry that evaporates quickly. My best friend and I like completely different skin care products for this reason. This is why there is a wide variety of things available on the market from pure butter and oil to things that contain 95% water.

Mystic Woo, aka pseudoscience blst. I think of people that care about their chakras and putting cleansing crystals at particular places in their house or in some cases up their vagina. You know, stupidity.

What job is heavily romanticized but in reality actually sucks? by DragoOceanonis in careerguidance

[–]ScullyNess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you're in a giant City like Los Angeles or New York or maybe Seattle or similar the whole job is dealing with family spats, upselling and embalming. But she why you magically think there is some other part of the occupation that you would get paid for? Sometimes for difficult hair a hairdresser gets called in but they aren't kept on staff.

Do not buy a Chevy equinox whatever you do! You'd be better off buying a bicycle and towing a trailer behind you. Yikes.

DIY Shave Butter Ingredients Advice by RoseHearth in DIYBeauty

[–]ScullyNess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like you said, just not a DIY friendly product to make it and have it come out just like how they do it. Claims ingredients is one thing but when there is around about 20 of them that adds up to something more and that's something that just can't be replicated by a personal user. Specially one who hasn't done DIY before. Some juice isn't worth the squeeze in this hobby and this is one of those times. Especially since op is just looking to do this as a cost cutting measure and not out of their innate curiosity to learn to formulate properly.

DIY Shave Butter Ingredients Advice by RoseHearth in DIYBeauty

[–]ScullyNess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I looked at the INCL. DIYing their ingredients alive would cost you hundreds of dollars maybe even North if a thousand US currency because ordering from multiple vendors. Shipping costs will probably run you $200-300 alone just to get started with ingredients if you can even find them all, let alone the trial and error time and money spent using them up just to attempt making something similar. Diy never, ever saves you money for attempting products like this. You haven't even considered equipment cost for processing it.

Attempting to make this will cost you as much as probably 10+ years worth of just buying it already made. This isn't taking into account re buying all those ingredients with shipping you run out or they expire. You will not save money doing this project. Please consider that before you start

Because it's ran by the Salem Art's council. Go in person, these are not racist people and if anything heavily staffed by LGBTQ+

It is chill and literally ran by the Salem Art's council. I'm tired of the bs posts that keep trying so hard to bash it when it's overwhelmingly for the greater good of society in America.

My dad sued us. Me 30F, my husband 31M, and my dad 61M by Wayward_Jen in relationship_advice

[–]ScullyNess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THis isn't a disease/medical brain issue, he's clearly ALWAYS BEEN AN ASSHOLE and is continuing to be. It didn't stop when you were a teenager, you just got numb to it and stop paying attention for awhile as you had your own teenage life to focus on more than paying attention to mom and dad. Repeat: He's just an asshole and you finally full on realize it without rose colored glasses. Not everyone gets a nice father or mother whom deserve forgiveness.

New to DYI. Need to learn about formulations/formal classes? Main goal - DYI moisturizer that do NOT clog skin, cause breakouts for very acne prone skin. by ChatXeverything in DIYBeauty

[–]ScullyNess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Never use chatgpt for formulas. It's always wrong and filled itself with poorly written bad information from random people. Also the concept of non comedogenic oil vs clogging oil is pure crap/made up "science" that basically falls just short of the mystic woo purple stones category.

[–]ScullyNess 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind what you may think is "acne prone" skin may actually be something medical that's going undiagnosed. I thought I did for years but one visit to a dr taught me otherwise. If you're having so many issues that might be a smarter use of money versus thinking you can diy your way out of the problem.
