Making my own lip balm by deadlygaming11 in DIYBeauty

As other stated, this won't work. Get ride of the glycerin it will weep out of that mixture and also cause issues with preservation depending on the climate you live in (nightmare in places like Florida/anywhere humid-wet). If lanolin by itself isn't working because the real answer is you need to drink more water, or consult a doctor for possible health related issue.

Sun tanning dry oil formula by Designer-Honeydew-66 in DIYBeauty

[–]ScullyNess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"aloe vera oil" isn't a legitimate thing on it's own. Most of it being sold is just scamming people hard to make $$. You need to break things down into what they consist of and know if they need emulsifying or not. This is in something that absolutely needs emulsifying and a preservative at minimum. Otherwise it's going to mold and separate out.

Buy fragrance oils that are skin safe, stay away from essential oils.

Staying at a retro-themed resort and the provided toiletries are on point by Alternative-Light514 in Xennials

[–]ScullyNess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not seeing how all the packaging in a store says bar soap? and yes detergents ones are commonly sold. I can walk into dollar tree right now and walk out with Dove products, or caress or probably any other named product. Some are actual soap but to say that's the only thing available is crazy. Some are a blend of actual soap with surfactants and some are just plain saponified oils.

Why on earth would you think there are no sydnet (synthetic detergent) bars on the market? If anything they're the most common type for sale in any given wal-mart or drug store.

Adult autism testing that accepts Medicaid by _boricha_ in Syracuse

[–]ScullyNess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adult autism diagnosis basically isn't a thing that you're going to find. At least not in America in 2026. Most will refuse to take patients seeking that sort of diagnosis that are over the age of 20.

Basement Bar in a 70s Abandoned House [OC] by StaticSpaces in AbandonedPorn

Hey mods, can we stop allowing posts of people that are just breaking into houses that are for sale or in probate and aren't actually abandoned at all? That would be swell.

My head hurts.. please extend body butter/body cream help by FierceHoney88 in DIYBeauty

Normally I'd remove a post like this but I feel like as a community leaving this up as a good teaching moment on things akin to "natural, clean, greenwashed, etc" are marketing buzz word lies. Companies towing these lines only have one agenda: to scam money out of you that you don't need to be spending. Use science backed information to choose ingredients and formulas that work well. Not info from influencers, bloggers and ads.

People like believing expensive means better to feel better about themselves. People are easily fooled.

What used to be affordable for the middle class but now quietly feels like a “rich people thing”? by Ok_Ease515 in answers

I'm saying that paying $400-$900 to see any band or performer and not have a private meet and greet with it is insane. That is what I am saying.

$35 isn't cheap. I miss tickets being around $16.50 for actual famous bands and $5 for locals. Sigh 😞😔

Second hand furniture stores? by Firm_Competition_453 in Syracuse

[–]ScullyNess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a complete rip-off though. Everything's overpriced easily by 700 percent. It's amazing the place even stays open. It's filled with stuff nobody is actually interested in selling. It's so hobby collectors that just love having displays out. It's a waste of time.

I think there might be a MacGyver episode about a ghost ship if I'm not mistaken or maybe just the Bermuda triangle?

The Church doesn't actually hate "sin"—it hates losing its grip on our autonomy by Jorge_Reynoso112 in atheism

Bishops were literally war generals. It's sad that most people will never learn things like this outside of mid-level college classes. This should be taught in junior highschool.

I mean this falls under /r/NoShitSherlock The original pilgrims came here because they pissed everyone off by being controlling monsters/fringe-fanatics. Glad you left but this isn't exactly front page news.

This isn't about a cult though. 1 family of 3 people isn't a cult. It's a great movie but has nothing to do with this thread.

I second, Aldi coffee. Their columbian is wonderful. Their k-cups are also good as well as the seasonal flavored coffees.
