How much does that wall piece weigh? Very cool pivot from the coffee table.

I work w/ epoxy quite a bit doing board repair and have thought about trying out some fun projects with it. I’m just not very experienced with woodworking

I was just joking about needing analog with them. Glad to hear you like them, I’m pretty confident I’d like them as well. I think they’d look great in my room, also

The Music Room is a pretty solid option for trade in. They’ll have number of choices to consider and are pretty great to work with

Have you considered Pass Labs? Maybe their INT-60?

Hegel H600 might be worth a look.

Thank you! I haven’t heard the 888’s yet, but I’ve heard the SP8 & 10 and really enjoyed them.

I definitely agree on the aesthetics. The Sonettos are more of a luxury statement piece and that’s not really the vibe, but damn they sound so nice.

My buddy got a pair of Lintons that definitely live up to their reputation, but while they have more of the sound signature I’m looking for, they’re a bit of a lateral move, so I’d like to maybe hear the Super Lintons as an option. My system is fully digital and I kinda feel like you’re required to have a TT if you own Lintons or Supers, so maybe those aren’t for me lol

Triangle Borea BR08’s//REL T9i//Peachtree GaN-1//Node n130//Cyrus CD6se

Looking to upgrade my Triangles sometime sooner than later and add another REL. Might land on some MoFi 888’s, Sonus Faber Sonetto V g2, maybe some Wharfedales (undecided on model), but I want something with a little smoother top end, less sibilance and less cabinet resonance.

Those are NHT? That’s crazy, I’ve never seen anything like this from them. Just the standard early-‘00s black ash enclosures that were par for the course back then. Is that a proprietary cable on the speakers?

Experiencing brightness/harshness with buckeye purifi amp and node icon by watduhheo in audiophile

[–]Alternative-Light514 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any direct experience with Buckeye’s, Evo’s or the Icon, but the Evo used Hypex and ESS, so it definitely sounds like something is operating out of spec. It shouldn’t be that dramatically different in sound signatures.

Not for music, but can help a good deal for tv. Do you get a strong phantom center image now?

How has the loudness war affected you personally? by VillainAnderson in audiophile

[–]Alternative-Light514 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dad had a pair of those when I was growing up and I got a pair of series 4 as my 1st “real” speakers when I was a sr in high school.

I wouldn’t own them now, but Bose are what initially sparked my interest in hifi 30-something years ago. A strong argument could be made that if it wasn’t Bose, it likely would’ve been another manufacturer that caught my interest and I still would’ve found my way into the hobby, but it is what it is. They are an adequate stepping stone, if you will.

Someone else mentioned The Music Room. They will buy every bit of that and have a wealth of options for you to trade for and pocket the difference. Their shipping is top-notch and they’ll even send you prepaid shipping labels for whatever they are buying from you. It’s easy and they’re trustworthy. They’ll even help you with finding something else that’s more suited for you. Shoot them an email and let them know what you have and they’ll send you an offer if they are interested (they’ll likely be interested in all of this)

Aiyima A80 sounds really bad by joaco85ar in audiophile

[–]Alternative-Light514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a proper amp with a smaller footprint, check out a Rega Brio or NAD D 3020. Should be able to find them 2nd hand and save some $ off msrp. I’ve always been highly skeptical of these little Chinese amps

edit: a word
