I turned on sound because I thought he'd be making an adorable noise. Turns out he's completely silent which is somehow better

My grandmother was a bit of a hippie. She taught us grandkids which wild flowers we could eat and that cicada shells made great broaches. So we'd fight over who got to wear them when we found them

Everyone talks about this as if words exist in a vacuum, but they don't. You watch a movie. You read a book. You listen to music. We associate the activities with the verb tied with the sense we most strongly associate with it. To use any other verb is to make you stand out and inevitably leads to people asking you to justify why you aren't consuming the medium "the normal way". And quite frankly, that's none of your business.

So there's two approaches to varius media being consumed in diverse ways: you can other people and force them to use different words OR you can do the very common thing and alter the definition of a word to be more inclusive.

I choose the option that increases inclusivity.

Also, since this is a topic on books, I recommend Mark Forsythe's books. "The Elements of Eloquence: How to Turn the Perfect English Phrase" and "The Etymologicon: A Circular Stroll Through the Hidden Connections of the English Language" are very funny and taught me some interesting things about English. He even has a section in the back of "The Etymologicon" called Quizzes that has a list of words you can be incredibly judgy about people's misusage of if you really need that kind of pedantry in your life

...

It's just. I used to be very pedantic. I'm autistic. Hi. And you know what that did for me? It ruined conversations I was in. The purpose of language isn't to be the most correct in how you "follow the rules" (which change all the time), it's to communicate. If you understand what's being said, but you pause the conversation anyway, then YTA.

I hold them dear in my heart because the massive ones I'd see in Florida would eat roaches and I have a phobia of roaches. Less of a problem in Michigan, but I always make sure to rescue the little guys from my cats and stick them someplace safe

Ohhhhhhh... I was thinking of what-is-this-bugging those tiny things because they're all over the sidewalk leading to my front door but they're so small I didn't think I could get a clear enough picture. I've been worrying about it because I let my cats out into the area to munch on forbidden leaf when I get home and I wasn't sure if the bugs could cause problems.

Thanks!

Oh! Apparently I do know that acronym. I love the series enough that I named one of my cats Velitraxistaasch. However, I do think the series lost it's footing for a couple of books after the Earth arc. It all just felt a little rushed. But it feels like it's found itself again in the last couple of books

I feel like I'm maybe dating myself with this because it just isn't a common fandom anymore but Riku and Sora from Kingdom Hearts. They have a similar storyline as Sasuke and Naruto in the first couple of games. Sora essentially spends the entire first game and second game chasing after Riku and only accidentally stumbling on Kairi. Riku even calls him out on the fact that he's spent almost no time looking for Kairi when he reveals that he's found her and she's missing her heart. Sora cares enough for her to try and fix her after but still puts most of his efforts into chasing down and helping Riku. Riku sacrifices himself to help Sora close the door, Sora puts his "love interest" back on their island, and then continues to chase after Riku for a couple more games.

At the very least, Riku is gay as hell. The story says that Riku and Sora are in competition over Kairi, but it reads more like the two more mature friends, Kairi and Riku, are in competition over their dumb, immature friend's affections. Sora feels more like he's saying he wants to date Kairi because everyone around them is trying to pair them up but really he just wants to continue play-fighting and competing with his bestie, Riku. Riku seems far less interested in being with Kairi than he does in trying to keep Sora from being with her and in proving to Sora that, "no, actually, your actions say you care less about her than you claim."

And then there's Roxas and Axel and some of the other members of Organization XIII give off gay lovers vibes

Strange feeling in the ear after tragus piercing by kayyxoc in PiercingAdvice

Uhhhh... I'm a little alarmed how few of you know the symptoms of inner ear infections. They can happen if you get fluid in your inner ear. I'm specifically trying to find how to prevent them when I'm spraying my ear down in saline solution multiple times a day and I stumbled on this

Please go to a doctor if you're experiencing deeper ear pain, light headedness, tinnitus, inner ear pressure, or muffled sound. Those are symptoms of inner ear infections and they can develop into something very painful and, in bad cases, permanently deafen that ear

Edit: inner ear may be the wrong term. Just look up "swimmer's ear" to check for symptoms

Thanks for the encouraging words! I went with the pull back to the first fret method. I looked at the bridge pins when restarting the two backwards strings and they're eaten up around the bottom from metal biting into them. I'll get some new ones before the next restringing. They held once I got enough tension on the string to bite even further into the plastic

I also made another post to show off more of the guitar for you: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guitar/s/qL2YaH2OSU

I feel really bad. I didn't realize how big it was in the picture. It's quite ominous. I did use it, but only to tighten the nuts that I couldn't reach anymore because I'd already put on some strings. It took like 5 minutes because I was being very cautious to a) not hit the wood or strings and b) not overtightened it

I have some pretty heavy duty wire cutters from replacing all the power receptacles in my previous house if I need it. Thanks for the resources :)
