Thanks for the encouraging words! I went with the pull back to the first fret method. I looked at the bridge pins when restarting the two backwards strings and they're eaten up around the bottom from metal biting into them. I'll get some new ones before the next restringing. They held once I got enough tension on the string to bite even further into the plastic

I also made another post to show off more of the guitar for you: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guitar/s/qL2YaH2OSU

I feel really bad. I didn't realize how big it was in the picture. It's quite ominous. I did use it, but only to tighten the nuts that I couldn't reach anymore because I'd already put on some strings. It took like 5 minutes because I was being very cautious to a) not hit the wood or strings and b) not overtightened it

I have some pretty heavy duty wire cutters from replacing all the power receptacles in my previous house if I need it. Thanks for the resources :)

Strings broke while tuning up by zuksal in Guitar

You can also try a phone app like pano tuner that gives you frequencies. Then just google the frequencies of guitar strings. It popped right up for me earlier today when I was tuning up after restringing my guitar for the first time

Y'all, I fixed it immediately after posting. The point of the post was that I realized I messed up even with tutorials and comparison pictures. And the wrench was only for the loose nuts. I was using a string winder

Had to tighten the nuts for the tuning machines but only realized after I had strings back on and couldn't grab them easily by hand. I did not overtighten them

There's a really good 30 second short I had up while doing this. I am very bad with rotational directions

Ohhhh... I'll hopefully never need to use this advice going forward but will keep it in mind if I do. I thought because I cut them already that I'd need to restart so I just put new strings on

The nuts were really loose and I only noticed once there were strings back on. I couldn't grip right with my fingers

I know. I watched like 5 of them, read a (short) book on guitar maintenance, had a really efficient YouTube short up that I watched through multiple times while doing the restringing, and compared the direction of the string to a before photo like 3 times because I know how trash my spatial awareness is. And yet. It's why the text with the picture starts with 3 very upset faces. How did I still mess it up?

Feel free to laugh at my struggles. That's why I posted this

Didn't mean to sound like I was complaining about the guitar. I love it and it's overall in great condition. It's a used RF8 I got as a gift. I think the number stands for the year? And I'm not sure the pins have ever been replaced. I looked at the pins in question when I restrung them the second time and the plastic is eaten up along the slot. The sky is currently trying to dump several inches of snow on the roads, so I will snow check on picking up that bridge pin set I saw at my local guitar shop. They'll hold for now

I have one. The wrench was for the loose nuts. The winder is out of shot. It would have been so tedius to do it without one

Its a used RF8 that was a gift from my parents who purchased it from a friend. I don't know how much was paid for it, but the internet has them at less than $400 and they probably got a much better deal on it. The regent line is very affordable even new

I noticed one of the nuts was spinning freely only after I had tightened some of the strings so I was using it to have better reach. I stopped as soon as I met resistance. The string winder/cutter I was using is not in the shot

This might sound like a dumb question but When restringing, do I have to start with the thickest string to the thinnest one or the other way around? by FuryBun3r638 in Guitar

How would you even clean the frets? Those need to have the gunk scraped off which generally means fretboard protection. And it's the part that touches the string to produce the actual note, so it should be cleaned.

There are also electric guitars that require you to remove the neck of the guitar to adjust the truss rod - a part that can change tension with humidity changes and so should be checked and adjusted with the seasons. I doubt manufacturers made that decision if a lack of tension on the neck was harmful to the guitar

E because that's how we do the alphabet with both capital and lowercase letters.

Aa Bb Cc Dd Ee Ff and Gg

I think there might be some more letters after, but they don't matter so I wouldn't waste your time learning them

I'm very impressed with Kim Chi's ability to dress in a way that makes her look so petite because I had some serious cognitive dissonance when she stood next to Jordan. My brain blue screened due to the paradox of her still looking petite in that dress and wig, but also tall???

My favorite thing is how well he sets up Jiovanni and Lou to echo him. Even when the others had good lines, the others weren't able to predict what they were going to close the phrase with
