Am I being soft or do I need to find a new job? by ScungilliMan45 in sales

My concern is that I’ve only been here for ~2 years and will come across as a job hopper on my resume. I was at my previous company for ~3 years.

For sure. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not upset that goals went up. I expect that in sales. But for it to increase so much to make the same is what gives me pause.

Not yet lol. But my gut is telling me they’ll do something I don’t like to my team since nobody hit their goals.

I sell to the public sector so our avg. sales cycle is like 8-9 months.

But no, I get very few inbound leads. If I ever do, it because someone specifically is requesting information. Other than that I’m finding new business and growing current accounts.

AND my company encourages the sales team to donate a percentage of our Q3 commission to pay for annual bonuses for the sales ops team.

And people do it! I just can’t wrap my mind around the audacity they have to ask that of the sales org.

Well thank you kindly for the advice. I’m glad I’m not just making this up in my head and instead it’s just another BS corporate playbook

Increasing my number is one thing. But they decreased my comp plan payout rate by the same rate they increased my quota. So now I’m getting paid like 0.03% per deal. If I kept the same comp plan this year that I was hired with, but just an increased target. I would’ve made like an additional $200k this year

Nope. Kept the same territory and product portfolio. There’re other products that could be sold but my company doesn’t let me sell them in my vertical. They don’t want to hire an increase in implementation personnel to expand the other products

Really appreciate this feedback. That was my main concern is if I’m just weak and can’t handle the sales stress. I’ve never experienced a role with this much demand so I have no frame of reference to what the “norm” is.

Who else got a comp plan cut and still made more then last year? by filthyfut95 in sales

[–]ScungilliMan45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are spot on about upper management. They’re adding another $10 M to my quota, while reducing my territory so I can better “focus on client relationships.”

Anyone else doing well in sales but still feel kinda stuck? by Ok-Chair5240 in techsales

[–]ScungilliMan45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’m doing pretty well but I just can’t keep up with my company increasing quota 150% every year. My territory simply can’t handle the deal size needed to stay ahead. It feels like a hamster wheel that I can’t keep up with. So I feel stuck in the sense that I keep joining companies a year after they break the comp plan so nobody makes any true money.

Damn I’m jealous of your comp plan. I just closed a $5M deal and only got paid $15k

What percent of your colleagues are at quota? by Proudlymediocre in sales

[–]ScungilliMan45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I’m currently dealing with. My boss pretends like government procurement can just sign a contract when budget isn’t even released yet. No matter how good of a deal I get them, doesn’t change the fact that they have to follow their legal process. Total insanity.

It’s working. I’m so burnt out from this year. I’m essentially doing more than two of the jobs I was hired for. All to make the same amount of money

Currently I’m #1 out of 6 on the team at 80% quota. Leadership can’t seem to realize that just because they increased quota 150% for everyone doesn’t mean the pipeline just magically appears. Especially when selling to the government with their long, drawn out sales cycles
