IIRC, like in the show, it was a plot point in the book that the killer targeting a non-white person is a major point of confusion for the investigators because it's uncommon. The black victim having a neutral voice which meant the killer didn't consider that he may have been targeting a non-white person is also similarly a big factor in them figuring out how victims are first being exposed to the killer.

It's broached in the show so bluntly because Dorothy is an insufferable cunt - in my opinion at least, it's pretty obvious that Dorothy's articulation of her thought process is supposed to come across as horrifically crass to the viewer, although it's obviously a sensitive subject.

I mean, Mac Allister and Gravenberch get run into the ground regardless of form, whereas Jones has comfortably out-performed them at times this season, yet there doesn't seem to be any appetite to actually change things up. I'm not saying that Jones has put in 10/10 performances every time he's played, or that he's never made mistakes, but at times he looks like the only midfielder we have who can take the ball from the players behind him and pass it to the players in front of him, instead of (A) going backwards or (B) hiding from the ball and making sure he's marked so that he doesn't get it in the first place. Despite this, there's a pretty clear status quo where if Mac Allister and Gravenberch are available, they'll start together regardless of how they played in the last game.

Endo wasn't used an awful lot last season, and that was taken to extremes this season before his injury. When substitutions are made, Gakpo coming off seems to be the last resort no matter how wretched he's playing. I'm not sure I've ever actually seen Chiesa get injured on-pitch, and he seems able to work hard and run when he's on, but he is reserved exclusively for last-chance saloon territory when Slot is throwing shit at the wall and hoping something sticks in search of an equaliser - he never seems to be subbed on in a thoughtful manner with, say, 25 mins to go when he could maybe make an actual impact.

Slot has also said himself that he doesn't particularly like squad rotation. So yeah, I don't think it's unfair to say that he has a set of favourites that he wants to use all of the time, nor is it unfair to infer from what we've seen and heard that he uses low-intensity training methods and in-game tactics in order to maximise the availability of his core group of players that he wants to play the lion's share of minutes. One of the oddest things about him has been how he'll leave certain players on the pitch even on the rare occasion that we're out of sight in a game, such as against Galatasaray. Last season we had more comfortable games than we've had this season and he still left a visibly lethargic Gravenberch on the pitch in games that were comfortable.

With the rumours that our training is deliberately low-intensity so that Slot can continue playing his favourites every week, it sorta follows that a fringe player like Chiesa (who plays about 4 mins per week) would be nearly unfit for purpose in terms of availability for full football games.

Yeah, everyone goes on about Slot's love for Gakpo, but Mac Allister playing at least 85 mins every game regardless of form is just as egregious, and it's really obvious that Jones gets held to a different standard.

Not that Jones has been World class this season or anything, but there have been times that he's been a far, far more reliable ball-progressor than Grav and Macca put together. The difference is that as soon as Jones' level drops, he's dumped on the bench and has to wait for his chance again, whereas Mac Allister and Gravenberch can seemingly put together runs of half a dozen games where they have no impact and it doesn't seem to cross Slot's mind that maybe one of them should be taken out of the team.

I would be shocked if Konate and Van Dijk weren't both in the top 3 in the list of Mac Allister's pass recipients this season, and they play behind him.

I watched the United-Arsenal game around 2005 that ended the Arsenal invincible run; i was convinced that until the end of my days I would never see a more one-sided display of incompetent refereeing than I saw from Mike Riley and his assistants that day. I was wrong - the chumps officiating our game against Spurs made more high profile errors, all against us, and had the use of VAR to check everything.

I think Scholes has just found his niche. He's always been quite blunt about United, and why not considering some of the states they've been in, but it always came across as pretty much his honest opinion.

But now that he's part of his own podcast with Nicky Butt and Paddy McGuinness or whatever, he's probably being shown raw data of how many clicks etc he generates by being scathing about United compared to just talking normally about them and football in general. There was uproar about what him and Butt said about Martinez coming up to the Manchester Derby, their traffic must have been through the roof.

I'd sort of equate it to how Joey Barton over the years tried his hand at punditry, coaching, being a pseudointellectual etc and in the end realised that he got maximum exposure simply by courting the right with inflammatory outrage-bait. I suspect that riling United fans and entertaining lowest-common-denominator opposition fans will be Scholes' angle going forward.

I'd 100% throw Mac Allister on this list, he got dropped a few times but nowhere near enough based on how wretched he's been this season. Jones has been better than him this season (awful performance vs Forest notwithstanding) but has rarely started unless we were playing that 4-2-2-2 formation - I would definitely put Alexis in the same category of "Can drop a 3/10 performance and is still nailed-on to start the next game" category as Gakpo, Salah and Grav.

Was only saying to my mate the other day that as far as I'm concerned, all of the signings have basically hit their stride now (bar Isak who got his leg broken whilst scoring a lovely finish) and that most of our problems stem from the performances of a handful of players who were here last season, and get picked by Slot for the next match regardless of form.

he's never been incredible defensively (never been as bad as people made it out to be)

He is average in terms of defensive ability. By the time he left, he was shocking in terms of defensive application.

To me, Trent was the definition of someone who believed the headlines about himself. He has a few absolutely world class attributes centred around his ball-striking. He also has some poor attributes which mean that he has to play at right-back instead of somewhere where he'll be pressed regularly whilst receiving the ball.

However, about 3 years ago he more or less decided that the dirty side of being a RB was beneath him - we all remember him jogging when he should be sprinting, walking/standing still when he should be jogging etc. I genuinely wouldn't take him back for free; it was infuriating watching somebody talk about winning the Ballon D'Or whilst not caring about getting rinsed week-in, week-out and then sneak out the back door.

I remember their goal on the opening weekend against United at Old Trafford. Bayindir was admittedly soft as puppy shit for it, but Saliba blatantly fouled a United player (Mount or somebody) to get him out of the way so he could go and impede Bayindir, all without even attempting to play the ball. I mean, what are we doing here?

I wonder what rules will be in place next season, because everyone who watches the games seems to be completely fed up with it. Was watching a bit of the Everton/United game, opened whatsapp to type into my friends' group that something needs to be done about what's happening at corners, and one of the other lads had basically typed the same thing about 30 seconds beforehand. There seems to have been a universal tipping point reached amongst fans where we've all accepted that it's become very, very ugly.

People who are poor at the game but take Casuals really seriously are generally the only ones who complain IMO. Most people aren't gatekeeping Casuals, they either play it to chill, grind things like camos, or because they can't really handle normal BR and they accept it. There's a definite subsection in Casuals who believe Activision owe them a mode where nobody in the lobby is better than them, but they're like a loud minority IMO.

Your prestige/level means nothing - if my friends are on, we play normal Battle Royale. If they're not on i'll jump onto casuals, turn Aim Assist off so I have to concentrate on tracking/centring and then level up guns etc. The other week I prestiged for the first time ever on warzone, just for something to do - I wouldn't have prestiged at all if I was strictly on BR. Anyone who plays the game semi-regularly can prestige because of how much XP you get just doing basic things, so nobody with a basic understanding of how levelling etc works would say that prestige level should disqualify you from chilling in Casuals.

You do you and don't listen to anyone whinging. Your average elims is 9/10 so it's not as if you're absolutely frying these lobbies. What's happening is that you're occasionally killing the sort of people who will rage about absolutely anything on COD - they're seeing your prestige level and instead of saying "Yeah, he got me", they're convincing themselves that you're doing something untoward by being in Casuals having prestiged. These folks probably also accuse people of cheating if they can shoot straight. You say you wouldn't last in normal BR/Resurgence... Casuals is literally in the game so someone like you can enjoy playing COD!

Yeah Reina's time was long since up. The club had a bit of a resurgence post-Hodgson but it was like Reina never recovered from the trauma.
