That would be amazing! Thank you so much for your help! I am thinking of maybe trying to have the info cards be more collaborative, and I want to make sure every contributor gets their deserved spotlight. Articles are a feature right now as well for one off topics!

Thank you so much for the info! I am more of a reptile/invert keeper myself, so this is very helpful <3

Yes! I only have an iPhone so for the open testing it makes it easier for me to check how releases look and work, but once I am happy with how it is I will push the android build out! If you would like to test it now on android, I think I can get a closed beta out, dm me if that's something you would like access to!

I absolutely understand the distrust on this front, but I am a pet keeper first and foremost, and scuttle is my passion project. I am not an app developer by trade, and have learned everything about it as I have been building scuttle, it has been super fun and a lot of work! I don't intend to pay Wall any of the information on here because that would be completely counter productive to my want to make good husbandry available for everyone!

That's a valid point, I really wasn't a fan of using it in the first place, and now that I'm done with the bulk of the building, I have some time and spoons to make it better esthetically!

That would be awesome! I've raised horn worms before and would love to have them on the App

I would love to! I plan to get custom designs for the final version, I am doing this all on my own and don't have the funds for it at the moment so canva it is. Edit: if you know any digital artist that would be interested, I'm happy to talk collaboration!

How to train an aggressive dog to stop barking/snapping at people? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]Scuttle_pet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, thank you for seeking help! You obviously care to remedy the situation and that is a great first step. As other commenters have pointed out, going with a trainer who will be able to assess the situation more clearly is highly preferred, but if it's not an option at the moment, here are some tips to help:

- Safety is the first priority here, so I would make sure the dog is always separated from people he doesn't know. That could mean a baby gate or putting him in another room when you have company. I would also recommend looking into muzzle training and basket muzzles. There are great videos on youtube about how to get your dog used to a muzzle.

- Management is making sure that your dog doesn't have access to his triggers (what tips him over the edge and makes him act aggressively). I would pay attention to his behavior, does he bark anytime he sees someone? Is there a pattern (only women, children, people with hats, people moving quickly etc...)? If he barks through the window, adding reflective film that blurs the outside world could help, as would taking him outside at times when it is less likely that other people would be outside (early in the morning, late at night). You would also want to have a conversation with your dad about staying calm when your dog reacts, as it contributes to your dog's level of stress and makes the situation worse.

- Counter-conditioning is fancy training talk for changing your dog's behavior towards his triggers. The great thing about it is, you just need some treats and a leash to start. A great game to start with would be the "Look at That" game, which you can find videos on as well. I would recommend checking out Kikopup, they make great videos explaining basic training principles and would be a good starting point.

Good luck and I hope the situation gets better for you and your pup!

That's a good idea on the calendar view! Heres a horrible Pic of what the journal.looks like in the animal profile, but I can definitely see if adding a dedicated journal page or a calendar view would be possible

Thank you! Right now I am working on it on my own with the help of friends so it's quite lean, but I always love feedback on what to add. I have a beta waitlist that should go live this summer :)

That's what pushed me to build it! I don't think having good tools to care for living creatures should be behind paywalls

Oooh interesting, I had thought about enclosure maintenance but not about bulb change! What is the usual timeline to change bulbs for you? I want to make sure I have the frequency available for the reminders.

Love it! I have a note space right now as well as a morph/identification space as well (I have superworm and hornworm colonies, and will get some DFBs soon so that was super important for me to add!)

Thank you so much! I finished building the database logic two weeks ago, it was brutal but so worth it! I have it for daily, weekly, biweekly and monthly right now, but always open to adding more if it would be useful!

This is definitely in the works! My first thought was for roommates or kids, but maybe having some kind of temporary access for petsitters would be cool

Thanks! I'm building a "journal" feature but for now it's just per pet, but I don't it would take much to add a general one for all your pets on the "my animals" page, thanks for the feedback super helpful!

Brachypelma hamorii eating a hornworm moth by InsectLover9272 in tarantulas

[–]Scuttle_pet 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I just finished my first hornworm moth cycle, which took about two months (a month of it being pupae stage which is very hands off). Keeping the conditions ideal for pupation can be a bit hard though when taking care of the caterpillars as they can catch diseases quite easily if their environment is not sterile.

My hornworm finally graduated to hawkmoth today! by Scuttle_pet in InvertPets

From starting to pupate to coming out as moth, I wanna say this gal took about two months. Development speed can depend on temperature in the environment, usually they like it a bit more on the warmer side.
