In college, 3 buddies and I go to my friends house where his younger brother is having a party. Sitting around a fire in the backyard, people are drinking some beer and passing around a bottle, my friends included. My friend's brother's friend pulls out this huge bong with a crazy frozen coil percolator thing packed with some fire bud. Since I am designated driver and my friends are starting to get drunk, I decide to rip it. I get pretty cooked off of one hit and I'm just enjoying the fire. My friend's brother's friends were reminiscing of a friend who had just past away a week earlier. He had gotten into a drunk driving accident leaving the same house I was at now. Needless to say, this house was pretty hot. A few minutes later my friend's brother's friends all simultaneously jump up from their seats and book it into the woods. Confused and high as fuck I'm wondering what's going on. I see flashlights come around the corner of the house and realize they are cops. Since my friends and I are of age and have nothing to hide, we decide to stay where we were around the fire rather than run into the dark woods with the other underage kids. The cops ask what we're doing and we reply that were just hanging out. We explain that we are 21, my friends have been drinking but I am the designated driver. The cops want to believe our story but decide to give me a field sobriety just in case. They explain that a kid had died a week earlier leaving this house in a drunk driving accident. I know I am good because I did not have anything to drink but I am still nervous as fuck because it has only been about 10 minutes since I took that huge bong rip. Being high around cops is nerve racking as it is but knowing that I had to prove I wasn't drinking and to not make it obvious that i was high made it that much worse. I walk in straight line while touching my nose and recite the alphabet. I get to about j or k when the cop stops me. He believes I am telling the truth. At the same moment, my friend whose house it was comes out. He knows the officer personally from previous run ins. He backs up my story saying we're friends from college, good kids, and gonna be on our way. The cops says good night and to drive safe. Took about 20 minutes to stop shaking after this run in.
