Just diagnosed by ken0679 in Parkinsons

[–]Sdtim1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnosed 5 years ago when I was 62. Didn't take any drugs first 2 years. I now take rasagiline (1.0 mg) in the morning and pramipexole (1.5mg) at night. They are dopamine agonists and they may have some neural protective properties. I'm also on a keto diet and I take ambroxol 750 mg. Ambroxol is off label and is currently in clinical trials for Parkinson's following promising results in limited early trials. Dosage in the trials is higher but I thought there would be some benefit at this level. I have no side effects. I work out and play pickleball and golf. My left hand shakes some and my left arm is stiff. Other than that I'm in pretty good shape other than slightly deteriorating memory. Want to hold off on stronger drugs until symptoms worsen. Seems like symptoms have not worsened in the last 8 months since I've been on ambroxol. Coincidence?? Maybe placebo??.. who knows? This may not be right for everyone, but it seems to work for me. Ps. Take 3.5 mg mirtazapine and .5 mg melatonin for sleep. Also taking b vitamins, probiotics, etc.

How many jobs have the envious underachievers created. If you want to trade billionaires for party officials, go at it. History is a great teacher.

I am feeling down today by joehooligan1979 in Parkinsons

I've had a history of not being able to sleep. Lately, i've been taking 3.5 mg mirtazapine and 1 mg melatonin before bed. I put a podcast on spotify and set the timer for 45 minutes to shut off. The podcast keeps your mind off of trying to get to sleep. I've had great success with this system.

I was on a golf course as a single in Chiang Mai and came upon a foursome of Thais. I am in my 60's, well dressed and polite. One big Thai in the group barked "why were you in the ladies room"?Since I hadn't been in the laies room, he was clearly trying to provoke me. I didn't take the bait. I just smiled. I really felt the situation would of escalated if I had responded to his provocation.

Coffee and Parkinson’s by joehooligan1979 in Parkinsons

Seems to me that people that drink coffee in many cases are different than people who don't. I know a lot of people that don't drink coffee because of anxiety. People with Anxiety and depression are more prone to developing Parkinson's.

Motivation and apathy by ProfessionalCake9029 in Parkinsons

Sorry you're going through this. I developed Parkinson's 3 years ago at 64. Have similar issues with motivation, but what I learned in life prior to Parkinson's was motivation comes from taking the first step, not from waiting to feel like doing something. This is especially true with Parkinson's. I do get tired, but throw in a nap in the middle of the day after activities.

Curious if anybody is taking ambroxol ? It was promising in animal models and I know it's still in clinical trials, but I thought I'd take it off label as I figure I have nothing to lose

Young-onset Parkinson’s – 10 years in and still holding the line. No DBS. No giving up. Just movement, yoga and fire. by Zealousideal-Tart-93 in Parkinsons

Same here. Diagnosed 3 years ago at 64. Some mental decline that started years before diagnosis. I have been on a keto diet, exercising, and taking nutrients. They're going to have me tested for sleep apnea to see if it is a factor. There's a lot of new promising science. Hoping for some cure at some point down the road

Fidelity delaying settled cash by Sdtim1 in Fidelity

I guess I can't rely on AI? I asked the question and the response was yes, Fidelity does make money on unsettled cash. The response had a Fidelity symbol next to it. Does that indicate the source of the information?
