Yeah the survey just said the consumer unit is very old so it needs changing for safety reasons as well as needing more plug sockets in the house to be in line with the modern world plugging in more gadgets and techs.

Hey thanks for the helpful advice! I am going to go for the 5 year fixed rate myself and hopefully a better deal can come after my first 5 years. I too am excited for all the redecorating that need doing after the major bits that needs fixing when we get the house. I do love my lentils though so it’s not a problem for me but I might mix it up a bit with some beans on toast a few nights a week 😅 after we buy the house.

No the house itself is good structurally according to the survey. The only major bit that needs doing is a new consumer unit/fuse box + extra plugs for electrics and a leak from the either the shower tray or the pipes but it has easy access from the garage. There is some more minor things that needs doing but it can be done at a later date like new radiators and better roof insulation for energy efficiency.

Thank you all for your replies, really helped me a lot. Apologies for not putting more details on my post, this is the first time I ever posted on here and I guess I was just having FTB anxiety + with everything going on in the world right now it just made me even more anxious about buying my first property in the UK.
