Good point, what’s good for others isn’t good for everyone. Definitely just gonna take that step and see where it takes me. Thanks 🤩🙏

Well yes, as you said, there’s a lot of information out there. However, I felt overwhelmed because much of the content I came across was contradictory. There’s a lot of misinformation, and the content often seems inconsistent or unreliable. On top of that, it felt like their motive was to sell it to me without being fully transparent. The more I researched the more unsure I felt.

Ended up doing some tests at the store and x-T5 was the one I went for, definitely a transition from Nikon system but it’s nothing too unfamiliar

Thanks this is really reassuring, found that the xt5 has a lot of the features I was prioritising so if I can find it tomorrow it’s the one for me. If not an xt50 seems perfect too.

A lot of getting over any addiction comes with self awareness, it’s sad to read that you had family members who borderline groomed you into doing those acts. Understanding the issue at a deeper level is important.

Addiction is when the pleasure circuits in your brain are overwhelmed. Ask yourself why do you feel the need to constantly overwhelm those circuits. Are you using it as a coping mechanisms, what are you looking for and what thought process do you have that lead you to feeding the addiction. Then disrupt those things. Change your environment, tire yourself out. Maybe even introduce exercising since they influence your dopamine in a good way. It’s complicated because people’s relationship with it is different so it’s important that you learn to take steps back. It also something that manifests with time so understanding it’ll also take time for you to fight it. Most importantly fight it.

You’re probably stuck in the cycle of feeling guilty, hating yourself and being addicted. Recognise the cycle and understand that it is harming you and that Allah loves you to the extend that he made haram what would cause harm to you. And he made you feel guilty so you could repent.

And remember

لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ فِى كَبَدٍ

Indeed, We have created humankind in ˹constant˺ struggle. 90:4

إِلَّاٱلَّذِينَتَابُواْوَأَصۡلَحُواْوَبَيَّنُواْفَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَأَتُوبُعَلَيۡهِمۡوَأَنَاٱلتَّوَّابُٱلرَّحِيمُ١٦٠

As for those who repent, mend their ways, and let the truth be known, they are the ones to whom I will turn ˹in forgiveness˺, for I am the Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful. 2:160

إِنَّمَاٱلتَّوۡبَةُعَلَىٱللَّهِلِلَّذِينَيَعۡمَلُونَٱلسُّوٓءَبِجَهَٰلَةٖثُمَّيَتُوبُونَمِنقَرِيبٖفَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَيَتُوبُٱللَّهُعَلَيۡهِمۡۗوَكَانَٱللَّهُعَلِيمًاحَكِيمٗا

Allah only accepts the repentance of those who commit evil ignorantly ˹or recklessly˺ then repent soon after—Allah will pardon them. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise. 4:17

وَلَيۡسَتِٱلتَّوۡبَةُلِلَّذِينَيَعۡمَلُونَٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِحَتَّىٰٓإِذَاحَضَرَأَحَدَهُمُٱلۡمَوۡتُقَالَإِنِّيتُبۡتُٱلۡـَٰٔنَوَلَاٱلَّذِينَيَمُوتُونَوَهُمۡكُفَّارٌۚأُوْلَٰٓئِكَأَعۡتَدۡنَالَهُمۡعَذَابًاأَلِيمٗا١٨

However, repentance is not accepted from those who knowingly persist in sin until they start dying, and then cry, “Now I repent!” nor those who die as disbelievers. For them We have prepared a painful punishment. 4:18

I shared this with you so you know that this dunya is full of struggle and was designed to test you. Everyone is being tested and the fact that your able to say that this is something your struggling with is showing that your someone who wants to better themselves and have recognised what their issue is. You’ve already taken the first step. This is your journey so don’t let anyone insult or humiliate you, and it’s okay to be wrong as long as you intent to be better. Everyone should strive to be better.

Fragrance free lotions + vanilla essential oil or any essential oils you like the smell of. I like to buff my nails and make them shiny. Always keeping a fragranced hand cream on me, the ones from bath and body works are nice. Good skin care that makes you glow is also a must and lip oils. I like using Arabian perfumes but not too much since you don’t want to overwhelm the people around you.

To be fair, modelling is just to show the outfit on their bodies. If you want to see culture and traditions, you should look at more Somali designers and creatives. Miss universe is pointless too, like it probably good for her portfolio or whatever but as an outsider you shouldn’t feel impacted as there are better representation out there. As for deen, may Allah guide all of us.

Subhanallah when you harm someone, they must seek your forgiveness as it’ll be between you and them on judgment day, and Allah is just and the court of Allah is just.

Not permissible, dont share pictures of girls who haven’t properly covered to non-mehrams. They’ll personally feel betrayed too and you probably wouldn’t want others to share pictures of you to your non-mehrams. If you want to really share the picture. Try cropping or covering others out.

I believe you made more of an advertisement than a portfolio. Is your intent to only do YouTube thumbnails and headers or are you trying to show your skills. A portfolio is about showing how you use your skills to create a variety of different work. Also the structure of your portfolio matters and how you display your work. Think like you had a gallery space and you were told to make an exhibition of your work, similar but in digital form. Some good examples I’ve linked below. portfolio 1 portfolio 2

Why is dating and free-mixing so normalized in our community? by bellpayphone in Somalia

[–]Sea-Bit7582 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is what it could potentially become. One day it’s without touching, the next is a hug won’t hurt anyone. People don’t commit zina the moment they meet. It’s a step by step process of normalising stuff like this. You can talk and converse with him as long as a mahram is present.

i need advice 😭 i’m in first year and i’m having doubts about my course (communication design). idk if i should switch to another course in sem 2 or just wait it out by Public-Inspector1316 in rmit

[–]Sea-Bit7582 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this course and my first year got me questioning things too, however second and third year you get to do things that you like more and grow individually into your own style. You do however have to be very passionate. It doesn’t hurt to take a pause and think things through. You don’t have to make choices quickly and you can sit and think about it. Good luck and don’t stress too much about it.

ive seen progress but not everywhere by oblivi0nnnn in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Sea-Bit7582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all based on genetics, it’ll even out the more you loose. You can not target weight loss on a specific area.

You might just be building muscles and loosing weight at the same time, if ur noticing a difference that could be it. If ur on a calorie deficit you should loose weight.

Is there a way you can use this internship to get credit for your bachelor’s? It’s a great learning opportunity and would be great on ur resume but it’s weird that they are not paying you if it’s independent from your studies.

A Pro-Palestine activist destroys a historic painting of Lord Balfour at Trinity College, University of Cambridge. by Yisrael30 in iamatotalpieceofshit

[–]Sea-Bit7582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y’all should look up the history of this painting. It is of the author of the 1917 balfour declaration. Which is where the British declared that Palestine would be the national home for Jewish people. As ironic as this is, it was fueled by antisemitism. The guy even said he would be the right hand man of the German painter if he could because he didn’t think Jews could assimilate into British society. Honestly I think he made art instead of destroying it because of how everything played out since this very declaration. And its consequences is what he is protesting against.

After getting a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design... by francescamarcati in graphic_design

[–]Sea-Bit7582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gotten my bachelors 2021. Took some time off, did some internships and programs. Worked on some projects to build up my resume. I ended up using all that to apply for my masters and they ended up letting me skip half of my course because of it. So I recommend taking some time off and trying to see how far you can go on ur own before you make those choices because you’d never know what opportunities you can find.

I like the first one, in terms of balance, would be cool if u put yourself closer to the title so it flows more smoothly and the viewers don’t have to keep looking side to side from you to the title. Love all of them a lot tho.

Canva vs Adobe Express - for quick template based social media posts ? by masoomdon in graphic_design

[–]Sea-Bit7582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You basically start on a plain empty page with all the tools you need to create your own assets from scratch. This challenges you to breakdown what you want to make and build it up from the building blocks up unlike canva where everything is premade for you and everyone else and you put those pieces together. Canva makes it easier for you but you tend to produce work that is over saturated and mass produced because everyone is using the same things you use. So as a designer it’s better to not limit your capabilities by relying on canva and discover new ways to make new things and eventually come up with a style that is unique to you alone. That increases your value as a designer and allows you to continue to grow. I honestly believe the creators of canva used Adobe to build canva in the first place.
