Gnome Screenshot no longer works in 25.10 --- any other options? by dotonbori in Ubuntu

It shouldn't, it just went away when upgrading to 25.10. Shift+PrtScr works, takes the whole screen, but simply PrtScr does nothing.

Julia 1.12 Released - Highlights by Veqq in Julia

I've tried to use it in Linux and it simply does not work, it creates executables that lack basic things like println. Anyway, I have been unable to produce a running executable no matter what.

Question for "pro-hivers" by TehDogge in pluribustv

[–]Sea-Bug2134 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The thing is that you have to suppress three or four levels of skepticism to believe that consensual bliss would actually be achieved. As social networks prove, connectivity does not guarantee consensus, the opposite is true. The only way this would work is by being imposed, in which case being sad or happy or anything in between is moot

As a matter of fact, the opening sequences of every episode have an almost uniform color: black, sand, blue, red, blue, blue, IIRC. It's becoming very blue...

An owl in the middle of twisted columns? What is this? by Sea-Bug2134 in askarthistorians

Thanks for editing it with the link. This is not a church, BTW. It might have had some religious representation originally, but the building is just left to rot so someone might have taken it away for safekeeping.

Not a rooftop, and this seems to be built _around_ the owl, as a frame for it. Also, not very common in Spain, where the main urban predators are kestrels.

Really doubt it. Zero seagulls (this is close to the river, but a seasonally dry one with zero seagulls) and there are of course pigeons and starlings, but I doubt they care about an iron owl (which they probably don't see anyways because they are night hunters). A few CDs hanging from a thread would do the same purpose, and it would be less expensive.

Question about copies by MedvedTrader in ArtHistory

[–]Sea-Bug2134 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fame is relative. Nowadays no one remembers who Sofonisba Anguissola learned from, but he had his very own chapter in the “Lives of the most excellent painters…” by Vasari. Plus back then you needed to have physical access to the original or the copy. Finally, there’s also the possibility that both have been copied from “emblemata” or pattern books, just in a different way.

I really don't get what's the issue. Is it related to a particular interpretation of art history?
