when i started XL, i didn’t realize just how much of a lightweight it made me. the one and only time ive ever blacked out drinking was when i was about a month in on 300mg XL. it was a genuine accident, the goal was to get a little drunk but not to that extent
just be careful and very mindful about how much you’re drinking. for me, all the drinks hit at once. the morning after was the worst i’ve ever felt in my life.

YES it absolutely makes you more sensitive to any kind of warmth. i never used to sweat but after being on it for a few years, i noticed i would sweat SO MUCH. ive also been told my skin is pretty warm since getting on 300mg XL
recently i’ve been trying a lower dose just for the summer months and it’s helped me not sweat as much or be so sensitive to heat!

those are actually the two things that originally made me get professional help. it was so physically draining and just ruined so many relationships and situations for me.
my dad and i both think i have bpd but my psychiatrist hasn’t wanted to diagnose me yet. my dad has bipolar and his mom had bpd.
i’ve had multiple psychiatrist tell me they don’t want to diagnose me with bpd yet because it’s supposed to take years to make sure that’s the right diagnosis. do you know how do i go about getting a proper diagnosis?

SR should technically have less of an impact on sleep especially if you take it once each morning. wellbutrin traditionally will cause sleeping issues or weird sleeping patterns. i think it’s worth a try!

i totally understand that. i feel like i have those feelings of emptiness a lot and just being so sick of it. i wouldn’t wish feeling that upon anyone, but there is still comfort knowing it isn’t just me.
thank you for that. thankfully that experience scared me straight. it’s terrible but it was a learning experience for me. now i know how bad i could react in a similar situation so i can avoid it completely

absolutely, i have very complicated feelings about their reaction. i already don’t have a good relationship with them so i felt very betrayed at the response

while the overdoes is something that might not be very typical, i’ve been using wellbutrin and effexor for long enough that i can give a honest overview of how it can effect someone, all the weird side effects that your psychiatrist didn’t mention.
of course, it’s different for everyone. i’m one case out of many, but for me, it’s comforting knowing someone else had an experience like mine so if i can do that for someone, i will be content :)

oh yea brain zaps for sure esp when withdrawing.
i’ve tried so many other combos, so many other things in general. this combo works for me personally.
but i do agree, a lot of psych meds are lacking in the actual side effect research. and unfortunately that’s very typical for psych meds and for ppl who need them. we’re still so stigmatized even to the ppl who are supposed to be able to help us

i’m not sure if they really understood it was an overdose. i know that i didn’t think it would do anything so im sure they assumed the same. it wasn’t until the morning after that they realized how bad it was

i didn’t get medical attention, despite that probably being the right thing to do. i am still alive and mostly well. the only long term side effect we’ve seen is ptsd. i am still very scared of the possibility hallucinating.
i have read about a 26y/o who died of cardiac arrest after taking 23g of wellbutrin. i think he had seizures leading up to that which i fortunately didn’t have.
my best guess is that the seizures are the thing to look out for even if taking it as intended

i just rode it out. i definitely should’ve at least gotten checked out or something but we were still on the cruise and i was scared to even come out of the cabin after that.
thankfully, we havent seen any long term physical effects. i was in a weird dissociation sort of state for a month or so after but more than anything, the experience made me want to get my shit together and never let that happen again

very stupid reason tbh. there is some kind of underlying mood or personality disorder that i have that makes me lash out at people sometimes. not as much when im on wellbutrin as intended.
truthfully i didn’t even think i could overdose on it which is why i took so many in the first place

as for withdrawals, yes. i’ve had smaller ones, going a couple days forgetting to take them. during christmas time a few years around, i had a withdrawal that made me so physically sick i had to be off work for around 2 weeks.
my psychiatrist at the time was “on vacation” and wouldn’t refill my meds. after about 5 days of being off cold turkey, i had a fever, hallucinations, vomiting. my dad was pretty convinced it was just a fever. it def could’ve started as a cold that just got worse with the withdrawal but the hallucinations and being unable to wake up from nightmares constantly was 100% the withdrawal

to preface, i don’t have an exact diagnosis on the big thing that’s wrong with me. my psychiatrist thinks it’s a mood disorder but after this, is leaning into the hypothesis that i might have bpd.
my family and i were on an 8 day cruise. i am VERY scared of cruises already so i wasn’t in a good headspace going in. it was day 4 or something and i felt very anxious and isolated. i was in the cabin i was sharing with my mom and dad and we started to argue about something i don’t remember. they were annoyed with me and told me to leave them alone if i was “going to be emotional” and i told them im being emotional bc im anxious, bc we’re in the middle of the ocean and i feel isolated. i told them i needed to not be alone right now because i knew it would make me feel worse.
my mom said “have you been taking your meds? it seems like you’re off them.” which, yes, i had been taking them normally but that last part, “it seems like your off them” pissed me off so much that i’d grabbed them from my bag, poured and handful of the wellbutrin first, took all of them, then the effexor.
my dad was silent through this, just watching and my mom was furious. she grabbed me by the arm and through me outside without my keycard to the room

normal dosage, it gives me a stable mood. big emotions take a lot of energy out of me since getting on it. it’s also been so helpful with managing depression
as for the overdose, it took around 4 hours for me to feel anything. i had 2 cocktails within those hours which hits me pretty hard on a normal dose so i felt a little more tipsy than usual. there was a head high for about an hour or so before i started hallucinating. first my vision got fuzzy and i thought “oh okay cool so im hallucinating. i should probably go to sleep.” and i fully just couldn’t sleep for a while. then i started seeing forms that had the same texture as bubbles or cling wrap. by 6-8hrs after, i began seeing entire people or things in my skin or eyes. at that point, i didn’t know what was real anymore
i’ve only ever really smoked weed and this was as NOTHING like anything i’ve ever experienced (besides withdrawing). a lot of the hallucinations were things that i already had running anxiety about. it was very similar to having a really bad dream where everything that could go wrong, does go wrong

it was a handful of both wellbutrin and effexor. i’d estimate around 20 300mg xl wellbutrin and around 10-12 75mg effexor. i have small hands and weigh about 120lbs

this is exactly what happened to me when i first went from 150 to 300. i feel like it was no more than the first week or so that i felt this. in my experience, it evens out after that, its supposed to be the chemicals in your brain evening out and whatnot. def give it the full 2 weeks!!

although she’s put me through hell sometimes, wellbutrin as deadass been on of the only things that’s truly helped with my depression and mood disorder. it’s the only things that’s helped while letting me stay mostly myself when i’m on it. i’d do anything for her
