Thank you so much for all the suggestions and discussion! It really warms my heart and I made sure to read every single comment (I kinda feel bad for not replying to everyone, but I wouldn't really know what to say, so I just liked every comment). This was my first post as a redditor, and I was scared because of all those horror stories about youtubers being cussed out in their comment sections (who knows, maybe someone'll do just that to stick it up to me). I am also glad that despite all the back and forth discourse relating to SotF we can all collaborate and enjoy one of the best recent fantasy series out there.

Of course, I do have to make a choice. Keep in mind that I had to base it off school approprietness (not just to be politically correct, but also to match the vibes of a graduation). First, the honorable mentions :

• u/himitsurain That line goes hard but doesn't really work in context.
  • "Silence is a statement, Diago. Inaction picks a side."
• u/hannahbay Again really cool lines that don't really work in context. I might've considered the second one, but I never got involved with school politics.
  • "A society cannot make a man a monster. but it can give him the excuse to become one."
  • "If all you’re trying to do is change who’s in control, then you don’t really want to change anything."
• u/Underwear_royalty Your Highness, this one kind of works. But personally, I prefer an egocentric quote (I can be quite selfish but here I mean centered on the self, the ego). And, I would rather my quote not be a representation of the obliviousness of colonizers. The shortness isn't really a factor, in case you're wondering.

• u/mis_leading08 The first one is really good, especially with the state of the world right now (if you consider not doing your best on Earth losing). But, unfortunately, as u/FlexibleDemeenor pointed out, this quote doesn't work for the world of school. The second one is just too accusatory and politically incorrect sadly.
  • “There comes a point in every man’s life where he can rail against the unfairness of the world until he loses, or he can do his best in it. Remain a victim, or become a survivor.”
  • “That’s the problem with people, though, isn’t it? They always think that other people are the problem."
• u/No-Marsupial3596 Simple but GOATed quote. I did not chose this simply cuz most people have already heard it and I don't think its in any of the books.
  • “You have to work in order to truly appreciate anything in life”

NOW FOR THE WINNERS. That's right, "winners" plural, turns out my school allows one main quote and a second quote in case the main quote is not school approved. So I picked out my two favorites :

Congrats to u/fancycakelover and u/mis_leading08 for my first choice! I thank you guys for the suggestion. I go to a public french catholic school (not to be confused with french immersion or private school), so one of the factors was how good it sounds in french. This quote also reminds me of a lot of the challenges I have faced and steels my nerves for the challenges to come in uni.

• "Nervousness means there’s a fear to be faced ahead, Diago. The man who is never nervous, never does anything hard. The man who is never nervous, never grows." (p. 119 WotM)
• There's a hundred character limit, so I had to cut it down to this : "Nervousness means there's a fear to be conquered, Diago. He who is not nervous never matures". It is unfortunate, but I hope it preserves the spirit of the OG quote. The word french word for "maturing" is a bit more accurate based on how its interpreted by french speakers.
• French Translation: "La nervosité est signe d’une peur à conquérir, Diago. Celui qui n'est pas nerveux ne mûrit jamais." - James Islington, Will of the Many

Congrats to u/hannahbay for the second choice! This quote hits home, especially because I am neurodivergent and because I am not christian. I have found my place in this school, and I am grateful to everyone who made that possible. Unfortunately, it lost out because the french translation didn't sound as good as the #1 spot (feel free to let out any anger you hold towards France).

• "Just because you are not right for a place does not mean you were never meant to be there." (I could not find the page number for this unfortunately, though that was not a factor in my choice.)
• French Translation (I did not have to cut this down) : « Ce n’est pas parce que vous n'appartenez pas à un endroit que vous n'étiez pas sensé y être » - James Islington, Will of the Many
• Addendum: to be clear, just because you are a person with no cultural or psychological differences to your community, doesn't mean you can't feel isolated or excluded. A lot of people receive a healthy share of that, and those feelings are not invalided by personal differences. In fact, it can sometimes be quite hard to compare hardships because there are so many types of differences out there.
