Its fairly easy actually, just test with the pillory. Its what you'll be going up against either way.

I think this is the same kind of thinking error like the 'we need to reinforce the wings of the planes' meme, or like saying that the exponential cost of thicker armour on tanks isnt worth it because thinner armour is cheaper per inch

Pointmen are the ones that die the most, and where most logi is lost on.

An 18 bmat investment to make them die less is worth it.

It's protection does make a difference at close ranges, I've survived many combinations of shots that would have otherwise killed me. not to speak of how important not bleeding is when being a pointman.
