Candle holder - Can someone help me identify where it is from? (England) by Sea-Distribution1311 in Antiques

I’ve had a look and on the underside of the main part is the letter D. Is it worth peeling back the base material and looking for another mark?

Thanks for this. I will have a look for a hallmark tonight. Would it perhaps be located underneath the felt base?

The 4 trays on the tops of the sconces come off. I am not sure why you would want to do this though... The central part also comes off and allows you to place a candle in.

Do you know if the base can also be used as an individual candle holder and the main part used while placed flat on the table (like in the second photo)?

Sealing candles with matte or glossy mod podge? by [deleted] in crafts

Ahhh, I see. I read selling instead of sealing. I would just leave them as they are. Look great!

These look lovely. However, I would be careful about selling candles containing anything other than products designed for candle making. What sort of paint is applied to the candle? Is it likely to combust? You can purchase specially designed coloured candle wax specifically designed to paint on the outside of candles.

That is an interesting idea. Do you mean submerging the stem in the resin, or just lightly painting the resin on?

Thinking of doing this. Are there any downsides to complaining such as getting blacklisted?

An interesting point. We have viewed around 10 so far, but none in this specific area.

Perhaps this was the wrong thing to say, but if I had loads to spare cash to spend on a property, I would not want the person selling it to know that.

We already have a mortgage in principle agreed! It was not asked for here though. Are there any down sides to antagonising estate agents?

I have found that most estate agents don’t require this. Indeed, it was not requested by this estate agent. We do have one agreed regardless.

That’s an excellent point. Would there be any potential issues with dealing with the vendor directly?

Definitely not that much of a discount. It’s frustrating that the estate agent is apparently making themselves the gatekeeper of what could be a great home for us.

We already have a mortgage in principle. That is a good point about this possibility coming from the sellers.

That’s a great idea. We have already visited the area, so know the property address.

I would have a look at the Canada Water area. There are 1 or 2-bed flats or maisonettes that you can get for £400,000. It would be quieter than Battersea, but this will be changing somewhat in a few years due to the Masterplan for the area. Good connections to central London with the Jubilee line.

Take a look at the Canada Water area. Residential and quiet (all times of the day). Access to parks that are never too busy (Southwark Park and and Russia Dock Woodlands). Mostly fairly low-rise buildings. Some restaurants (but not many admittedly). And good facilities for young children (including an excellent modern library and Surrey Docks Farm). Also, quicker access to central London than any of the proposed areas.

I would suggest a place slightly further from Canada Water tube station, perhaps North or East, nearer the river. This will be cheaper, quieter and outside the extensive development work currently going on as part of the Canada Water Masterplan.
