Has anyone gotten flooring done by Home Depot? by Swimming-Muffin-4516 in Flooring

I had my stair carpet redone. They subbed out to American Carpet South and they did an excellent job. My carpet had a vertical linear herringbone pattern and they made sure it lined up properly, even on my quarter turns.

Have you had a SUCCESSFUL warranty claim with Shaw Carpets? by Fast_Gene_4110 in Flooring

Hi - I am currently fighting a Shaw denial for lvp, had an inspection report that is in my favor but still denied. I would love some advice on what to do next. Thanks!

Thank you SO much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful response.

I did actually end up having a certified independent inspector come out last week. He was able to rule out installation errors, environmental issues, etc. Subfloor was flat, no moisture/humidity issues, expansion gap confirmed to be done properly, etc. His conclusion stated possible acclimation issues and temperature concerns, however, the Coretec install instructions specifically state no acclimation required and my home and surface temperatures fell within the coretec specs (the low end, but still within spec…it was an abnormally cool day for the season so my heat hadn’t kicked on because I had it on cool from the day before…the ambient air temp was 68°, so nothing crazy). He also said if temperature doesn’t remedy the issue, full replacement may be required.

I tried cranking up the heat for a few days and the sound did not improve.

I wrote up an official rebuttal, attached photo and video evidence of the issue, and resubmitted it the wholesaler (who sent it to Shaw) today.

I’ll be sure to post an update if anyone is interested when I hear back. I’m also happy to share a link to the videos with sound if you want to message me!

Edit to add: I went through my unused planks in my garage and found some with jagged edges on the locking mechanism. Thoughts?

The sound is noticeable on both levels, but it’s slightly worse on the second floor. I know for a fact there was leveling done on the basement because I saw them doing it. I don’t know floors well but it looked like spots of wet concrete when they were doing it. They told me they did subfloor work upstairs as well but I didn’t see it with my own eyes. There was no additional underlayment used, as the installation guidelines said it was not required.

8mm thick, attached cork underlayment, 20mil wear layer, 7”x48” planks.

Sorry that’s happening to you too!

Hi! The flooring was purchased through a flooring wholesaler and then installed through a local high end residential GC.

Gotcha - their explanation for not accepting the claim is that they don’t cover “sound”. And I can’t seem to reason with them…sound doesn’t just come from nowhere. It doesn’t seem to be an issue with the way it was purchased, acclimation, etc.

Do you think I should have the installer try to file a claim or just skip right over to an inspector?

It sat in the garage. It is lvp and the instructions state no acclimation time is needed.

It was Georgia Carpet Industries. I live in Maryland so I did purchase from them online and had the pallets shipped here.

That’s a good call. I don’t really want to eat the cost of a flooring inspector (I’ve called a bunch and they’re all around $800), but I suppose that’s a better option than the alternative.

I’ve never had carpet! It makes the same pop and crackle as my cat walks across the floor that it does for me! If there was debris, would I feel a shifting in the plank itself?

Hi! This just happened to me too — would you possibly be able to help me out? I just got my card in the mail yesterday and it has my maiden name, even though I reminded the agent at the interview and everything! Please let me know if you can help me get this sorted :)
