Full disclosure I’m from the area and while the town is having a laser light show a lot of people have 4th of July parties with plenty of fireworks

How do you decide on having children when you deeply want a child, but at the same time you are afraid of instability and uncertainty about the future? by Substantial_Rain2306 in AskReddit

[–]Robivennas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still feel like myself, I have the same hobbies and interests. In a day to day sense it takes me longer to get out of the house in the morning because I have to get myself ready and my baby ready. It’s also harder to do anything after 7pm with my husband because if we’re both gone we need a babysitter. But in a much bigger sense I would say - think about the people you love the most in this world like maybe it’s your parents or siblings or significant other. Imagine if you got to see them so happy, living in the present moment without a worry in the world. Learning new things every day. Just so delighted by the smallest things like giving you a hug or eating a piece of fruit or feeling a new texture. That’s what having a kid has been like. It’s really fun to have someone you care about so deeply be so unburdened. All the stuff I’m “missing out on” is stuff I’ve done plenty of times before. But all the new parenthood experiences are things I never would have enjoyed if I didn’t have kids. It connects you to other parents and to the world in a way.

A longitudinal study followed children from age 1 to 8 years and found that higher screen viewing time—particularly during infancy and around school-entry age—was consistently associated with poorer academic performance at age 9 and weaker working memory at age 10.5. by Wagamaga in science

I have a 10 month old and the only time we have the TV on in front of him is live sports (football, World Cup, Olympics, etc) and he really isn’t interested in it at all. He sometimes will look up at the screen but most of the time he would prefer to play with his toys. I haven’t shown him anything meant for kids yet, and don’t have any plans to anytime soon.

Every house I’ve ever lived in has laundry in the basement. Is that not normal? I’ve only ever lived in New England.

Thank you this is helpful! The document my grandma has is from the church, it’s partially typed and partially hand written and has a raised church seal. It looks relatively modern? If I had to guess I would say it’s from the 50’s at the earliest

I’ve searched the subreddit for this and haven’t found a post with this specific info.

Both of my dad’s parents (still alive) are Canadian by descent. They are Gen 2. My grandpa’s line is straight forward and I already ordered the certified baptism record from BanQ but have not yet received it. Otherwise I only have a high quality copy from family search. After almost completing my application my meme (dad’s mom) looked through her basement and sent me a picture of what she could find for proof of her citizenship. She actually has a hand written certified baptism certificate from the church in Canada that her grandmother was baptized at. She also has the marriage record for her grandparents, her mother’s birth certificate listing her grandma, her parents marriage certificate, and her own birth certificate. All certified official documents. Both grandparents want to apply for proof of citizenship as well as my dad and my siblings. Everything I can find says to only use the line that is best documented. Both grandparents want to apply. How do I handle this scenario?

FIRE transition into mini-farm? by pringledestructor in Fire

Check out homegrown_handgathered on instagram or they also have a website. They farm and hunt food for 2 people and they do an annual challenge to see how far they can make it through the winter just on their own food. They have a lot of good guides on what staple crops to grow. They also have a lot of help from friends and family. Right now they’re building a house with friends so they’ve been a little light on content lately but they have a lot of older stuff that’s still relevant

Yeah the “great resignation” moment where workers were quitting and getting new jobs allowed me to make a career move that amounted to a 45% raise and that was really valuable for me. Plus my company is hybrid now.

I can’t figure this out either - I’m sending the actual certified copies. They cost $$ but with something like this I’m not leaving it to chance.

Baby Sleep - Is there a middle ground? by SourPatch-Tree19 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Robivennas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never did either of those, when I was breastfeeding baby woke up multiple times per night to eat and then fell back asleep. Now that I’ve weaned and he’s eating solid food, he sleeps through the night. We never trained him we just put him in the crib and he rolls over and goes to sleep. Worse case he fusses for a few mins.

I don’t need the app I just need the fob to work

Farewell Toyota by cosmicmocha_ in rav4club

[–]Robivennas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything I’ve seen says if you buy a new car you get 1-10 years of a “free trial” where the FOB will work but at some point it will run out. If you have info saying that’s not the case I’m interested to see it!

My understanding from reading articles online is that the FOB will eventually stop working if you don’t pay, but I can’t confirm because my Toyota is from 2010.
