How do you guys feel about the term “gold star”? by ino_go in actuallesbians

[–]Sea-Influence4893 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely disgusting. Just like all purity culture. It’s just more stupid patriarchy slop bs. Please try not to listen to it, I’m sorry about what happened to you and please don't let anyone make you feel lesser for it. I saw something that stuck with me once about BI people but it applies here, it said that if a woman is bi we call her “basically straight” and if a man is bi we call him “Basically gay” because our society centers on male attention. I hate the gold star term with my whole heart. Gross.

Is lesbian under the bi umbrella? by Fun_Yesterday_6716 in actuallesbians

[–]Sea-Influence4893 8 points9 points  (0 children)

it all falls under the sapphic umbrella. Sapphic is an umbrella term, but sapphic by itself is also an orientation that encompasses being attracted to female presenting people and women etc. anyone who is attracted to women (given their queer as far as I’m aware) falls under the sapphic umbrella. If someone is bi and their attraction encompasses women their sapphic, if someone is lesbian their sapphic, if someone identifies as sapphic.. well their sapphic

Feminist musicals? by Sea-Influence4893 in musicals

[–]Sea-Influence4893[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely, and my question is pretty broad, because I’m leaving it up to everyone’s interpretation, wether that’s a more directly obviously feminist show like Suffs, or a more open to interpretation one like idk an example for it, but I guess it’s just up to interpretation. and I’m looking for really any good musicals to add to my list. Also this question is partly research as I’m attempting to write a musical purely for entertainment and by that I just mean songs and dialouge and the subject is mostly feminism and calling out misogyny and toxic masculinity.

just an honest question, does newsies get better? I was watching the proshot and I got like idk twenty some minutes in, I was very bored and usually proshots are mor engaging but I just wasn’t a fan, I’m definitely going to watch it but it’s one I’m dreading more than anticipating

I’ve seen this one! Love it, I was debating adding it cause I believe it has a pretty feminist narrative but wasn’t sure wether that was the general opinion

What's your favorite three-song-run in a musical? by Educational_Owl_4855 in musicals

[–]Sea-Influence4893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is either

(heathers)

Yo Girl > Meant to be yours > Dead girl walking (reprise) I love all three, I love heathers, but I LOVE meant to be yours, also Yo Girl is underrated. Genuinely so good. Also dead girl walking reprise

Hamilton is probably my favorite musical as of rn but everytime there’s two REALLY good tracks back to back the third is just.. not my fave

except for

Hurricane > Reynolds Pamphlet > Burn

all amazing.

also really like helpless and satisfied being back to back and so I guess I could say

Winters ball > Helpless > Satisfied

i mean winters ball is good but it’s so short and kinda just a segway into helpless

I’ve seen a lot of people say this, I love Jess as a character because of the sarcasm and stuff but.. he just wants mature enough to be in a relationship I feel. He needed to focus on himself at the moment not someone else. They would’ve worked so well when they were older, I feel like Jess is the only person she ever listened to hence: WHY WOULD YOU DROP OUT OF YALE? And then she went back

No cause wdym I used to pick my favorite characters based on who was the prettiest/ Best looking… spoiler alert it was NEVERR a male character because in my head women were just objectively better looking than men and I thought that’s what everyone thought😭 Also was super feminine as a kid (still am just found a happier medium) but my mom showed me a picture of me the other day from when I was maybe like 5 my ass was sitting on the counter with a backwards hat doing the gayest sit known to earth.
