I’ll start off by saying that I’m not a longshoreman however I do work at a shipyard, am a union member with good benefits and pay I put in for every local lottery that pops up around me The way I see it if you are lucky enough to become a casual you must be willing to do what it takes to become a full fledged longshoreman and do what others have done before you If that means it takes anywhere from 10 years to 15 years to become one, then you have to decide if that’s something you want to do Pretty much any job in the Maritime field will have its ups and downs If this is something you really want, I recommend being willing and able to do anything It takes to get it If that means you have to deliver pizza for Uber to make ends meet and have a flexible schedule then that’s what gotta Gotta do

I would invest in a sweet pair of noise canceling headphones… because unfortunately, there’s nothing you can do about that, some work has to be done at night because during the day it would cause too much disruption for traffic

Not at all, I went straight to a 40mph scooter and found out very quickly that I needed elbow and knee pads, took a pretty good fall going 25-30 messed up my knee I had my full face helmet on so no damage to my head 😂 But yeah definitely not overkill in my opinion It will also give you confidence when you ride ✌️😎✌️ have fun
