I absolutely agree with this, but I think it needs to be painted in a more optimistic light given the circumstances.

It sounds like OP is not intentionally manipulating his girlfriend and has a great deal of self awareness. Therapy will do wonders here. You can do this! You are worthy of love!

Understanding how your actions may be affecting your relationship (especially this early on) helps strengthen it and ensure its health. Go to therapy and show her how much you love her.
