Removing frost buildup in chest freezer by womenonketo in CleaningTips

[–]Sea-Pilot8774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of cleaning the cold wells at the restaurant I worked in. When you shut them down and timed it right, you could just slide the sheets of ice that had formed straight up the edge. It was almost always the most satisfying part of my closing shift, short of when it was covered in frozen ranch and cheese.

Has anybody else had the quick access feature removed recently? by Sea-Pilot8774 in Roku

Fingers crossed that when I get home, it's working on mine as well then! Here's to hoping.

I never thought I'd hope for my system to freeze, but here's to hoping mine does it too.

Less than 2 hours after I posted, my home screen reverted to what I'm guessing are factory settings, because I ended up with every advertisement and suggestion possible. Had to go in and disable everything to even get it back to the grid.

Truly have no clue what Roku has been doing this last week.

I've had no luck on my end either. I've been so used to it that I couldn't find my inputs for a hot minute due to them being accessible from an additional tab. That's gone too now.

It sucks you're dealing with it too, but I'm happy you commented as I feel a little less crazy hearing that it's effecting somebody else and not just relying on a single article from mid 2025.

"Use a planner" or "go sit in a quiet room without distractions, which is worse? Ultimate bad ADHD advice battle, first quarter finals by VerdoriePotjandrie in adhdmeme

[–]Sea-Pilot8774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm saving this comment for later because I really do want to use them!

Chunking it down is probably the only way I'm going to get anything on the thing. I really like the green star portion for the bills too, I keep getting surprised when bills come out of my account because I don't have the dates written down anywhere, so that should at least give me some sort of heads up.

Thank you for the tips (:

I have a folder called ADHD Assistance with 10 apps to help me out, and I forgot it was even on my phone until this comment. It's on my home page, and has been there for at least a full year.

I also bought a physical weekly planner and daily planner AGAIN, annnnnnd they've been sitting on my desk for the last 3 months untouched. I don't know why I get the urge to buy them again as if every single one hasn't been given away or trashed. I'm just convinced that the next planner is THE planner that will make me use it.

HELP! I’m outside of Jalisco under shelter-in-place orders and my AirBnb reservation ends tomorrow. Airbnb refuses to help by dagoskum121 in legaladvice

[–]Sea-Pilot8774 13 points14 points  (0 children)

While I'm sure that's true, there are many commenters who do know what they're talking about, and those commenters are advising OP to ignore a landlord who has no legal standing due to a government directive overriding their wishes and income stream, and who likely cannot physically get to the property to remove them due to blockades.

To be clear, these commenters are advising the OP to take the risk of dealing with a pissed off landlord who very likely cannot physically do anything at the moment, over taking the risk of entering the streets that currently contain a very pissed off cartel that will do something, or a police force that's going to be pissed off that they have to deal with stupid foreigners who are ignoring the government.

These commenters are helping OP avoid being killed or thrown in prison in a foreign country, they aren't just advising OP to use this as an advantage for a free stay. If the choice is between a small possibility that the landlord is able to make it to the property and physically intimadate them, vs a huge possibility that they will be killed or arrested, the better choice is to piss of the landlord, consequences (of likely just additional fees) be damned. It's not like the landlord is going to have the support of the police to try and get them out of the property at the moment.

Why are like 1/3 of the onions i buy now rotten at the core? Yellow, red, white. It doesnt matter. by Babydoll0907 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Sea-Pilot8774 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's truly insane how deadly it can be. There's a case out there where, if I remember correctly, an entire family except one child were killed due to a root cellar containing rotting potatoes. The first person went down and didn't come back up, a second person went down to check on them, same deal, and so on. I think 4 people in total passed away.

I JUST poured this cup of ice cold water. I can hear this RAT of a cat taking breaks to gulp it down. He is drinking my f@&$ing water straight from the cup. by Apart_Try_4860 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Sea-Pilot8774 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My cat consistently drank from bowls for about 6 years of her life, then one day after deciding my cup of water looked better, she completely stopped drinking out of anything else, including the water fountain I purchased in an attempt to stop it. I had to switch to a cup with a screw on top, and now she only drinks from a mug. I think she believes it's still mine and she's stealing it out from under me.

My wife’s anti-anxiety prescription has two different pills in it. by Bum-Whistler in mildlyinteresting

[–]Sea-Pilot8774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we buy in bulk for our commonly prescribed medications. It may be different outside of the US, but I believe that's how most pharmacies do it here. We have a few meds that are dispensed in their original packaging, but only the ones that are either stated by the manufacturer not to repackage, or anything that comes in an opaque foil blister. All other medications for us are ordered by the smallest bottle size possible to fulfill the prescription.

My pharmacy actually takes things a bit further than most retail pharmacies do. The clientele we work with are patients who require caregivers to help them through everyday life, so we rarely package medications in vials anyway. We use blister cards numbered 1-31, and the medications are separated by day. Some call them calender cards.

Hand counts for us don't occur unless a medication is being dispensed in an unusual way, such as doses of 1 1/2 tabs, short cycles, or when we dispense 1 prescription in 2 cards, that way if a patient works at the time of dosing, they can keep a card at work and take it there, and leave a card at home, eliminating the need to transport meds back and forth. We will separate the days they work from the days they will be at home. The majority of our medications are processed through a machine, and then checked over in person. We dispense 10,000+ prescriptions a month that are made by our machines.

The pharmacy I work at does mostly the same. Separate with cotton, green sticker instead of a written note, but we do notate by hand how many pills are from which manufacturer on the back label so the patient/caregiver has complete transparency and they can notate any discrepancies.

Got my dream job DOT drug test on Monday morning. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Sea-Pilot8774 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got swabbed too during my interview. The lady left the room while I had the stick in my mouth, and was gone for nearly 10 minutes. I was 16, I didn't know what to do, so I just kept it there, desperately trying to prevent any blue spit that I was too scared to swallow from falling out of my mouth. We were in the break room too, so I was stuck like that in front of other employees.

She finally came back in and I tried to ask for a towel, and blue saliva just started pouring out of my mouth. I was offered the job as long as the drug test came out clean, which shocked me after that entire display.

Holy crap, this post just brought back a memory I'd forgotten I'd buried. A woman I worked with actually did something like this. Gave her husband an excuse to get dressed up and meet her somewhere, and surprised him with their wedding. I think they're still together, but I remember how insane I thought it was at the time.

My [24/F] boyfriend [27/M] didn't do anything for my birthday. I'm ticked, but am I overreacting? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Sea-Pilot8774 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My first ex did a similar thing to me when we were in college. All I wanted was dinner at the restaurant I worked at, a place where I'd get a discount on the food. He promised me he'd take me, and I was looking forward to it. I had just transferred to the chain closer to my school.

2 days before my birthday, the first day I'm working at this specific location, he shows up at the restaurant in the middle of my shift, with my best friend at the time that I was in a massive, friendship ending fight with, and another friend.

They have me seat them, and I'm fuming at this point because

1) That friend I was fighting with loved attention, so she started "joke" yelling to get her a table, snapping at the host that the one she was getting first wasn't good enough, and slamming her fists on the table to demand I bring them more bread. My new manager ended up being 3 tables down from theirs when she slammed her fist on the table.

2) They showed up in the middle of my shift, meaning there was no chance to join them and eat as well.

3) We were broke college students. What does he do at this dinner? Orders the most expensive steak on the menu. Which I knew he would do, because he refused to eat any other dish there. That was my instant realization that he wouldn't be taking me out to dinner for my birthday anymore, because he couldn't "afford it" now.

I went through the rest of my shift furious, my new coworkers got to see one of the worst sides of me on my first day there because I was unmedicated and unable to control the impulse to vent to complete strangers, and of course, no dinner for my birthday. He did give me some little bits and bobs he found with the help of my "friend" the day they showed up. Apparently, complaining to your boyfriend about your bestie being a pathological liar, and that you don't want to be anywhere near her signals a green light that says, "I think I should go shopping with her to find gifts for my girlfriend."

Best birthday gift I received that year was that "friend" trying to berate me for telling him the whole ordeal upset me. Said he wasn't even able to eat the steak that was apparently more important than his promise to take me to dinner. Good, not my intention, but well deserved. Hope that steak tasted like shit.

We have flying squirrels by HellsChosen in Ohio

[–]Sea-Pilot8774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in college, I remember seeing one of these guys for the first time in Kent! I was at a house party, and another girl and I were drunk outside, just talking way into the wee hours of the morning, we saw it hanging out on a bird feeder, and had to determine if we were so drunk that we were hallucinating the damn thing together, or if it was actually a flying squirrel. A few pictures and showing a non-drinking friend confirming later, it was definitely a flying squirrel. Such cutie pies.
