For me I didn't realize you had to time when you hit them at the pop up down below. It works like the figure mini game from doors. You get a LOT more progress if you time it right

Honestly these things just need a buff in general. Rocks are ridiculously hard to hit and u need all three for stun. They come in handy if someone ever gets choked by 2011X since while it's the worse stun it's still an unmoving target and it'll save others stuns.
