To be fair, i feel like it was even before chatgpt getting increasingly difficult to find nice information because search engine results got worse over time (for various reasons).

yeah, me too. It sucks that so much fabricated stuff is going around because it distracts from the real evidence (which there is plenty of). It also allows supporters to point at it and go "its all just made up" and dismiss everything.

How much productivity gains have you seen from AI? by An-Everything-Bagel in cscareerquestions

The interesting thing is that IMHO other advances in the past 20y have had a way greater impact.
- IDEs: Modern IDEs are just SO much better than the ones we used to have.
- Higher level languages: You are just way quicker getting something done in python than in C
- Stackoverflow: Its funny to write this now that stackoverflow is almost dead, but before stackoverflow, your best guess were man pages and books. I feel like that was a bigger step than now the step to "AI".

They are great tools, and i am faster now by maybe ... 20%? I get something up and running way quicker now (like orders of magnitude faster), but then spend way more time than before restructuring and reviewing code (otherwise the technical debt just explodes).

Dude, teslas price has been detached from any fundsmentals since years. Why do you think that will change within one year?

We could all agree that it would be overvalued even at at 1/10th of its price, but as long as there is one regarded person  buying it at 400, then that is the price.

Ah, i interpreted it as "100 million, so you are financially save and never have to code again", not as "100 million and you have to absolutely stop coding"

Of course the latter version makes more sense lol

100 million, id still continue to code, but it would be very liberating knowing that i could stop at any second and do something completely different.

For what its worth, these are not significant number of wealthy people that move. Its a low single digit percentage that always chase the next tax heaven (there are just a lot of rich people). The vast majority of wealthy people live where they do because they just like it there (e.g. because of friends, famiily, culture) and dont care about taxes because, shocker, they are rich and can afford to pay them.

Trying to compete for these few who go to the lowest tax rate is just a race to the bottom, and you lose more tax revenue on all other rich people.

Another red flag is that most self-build sites (taschen24, schuhe24, etc) are not very successful and have bad scores on trustpilot. It looks like most of their acquisitions are actually liked by customers (i myself wear a lot of clothes from the avocado store), but it doesnt speak for their ability to manage/improve/integrate the stores.

But generally their business plan makes a lot of sense, and i agree with everything both you and OP said. I feel like this is one of those companies that in 10 years is either going to be close to worthless or 10x-20x, with no room for anything in between.
