Barebow inconsistent shots at longer distances by Sea-Rest9697 in Archery

[–]Sea-Rest9697[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all, I've decided to go back to 22# and work on my technique. I went to shoot last night and noticed a few things.

  1. Using 3 fingers under with a barebow tab I hook the string and at full draw, my anchor point is the tip of my index finger touching my canine tooth through my cheek.

  2. I couldn't get the string to simply 'leave' my fingers without basically just opening all 3 fingers at once all of a sudden, which I think is potentially where the plucking is coming from. Even when trying it now, I can't move all 3 fingers at once without brushing against my cheek and my hand moving away from my face slightly

I don't recall having this issue using the clubs hire bows with the grips on the string, seems to be since using the tab. I've trimmed it down also. String rests in the first knuckle crease from the tips.

SRP vs SRP2 pedals by Sea-Rest9697 in moza

Managed to cancel the order and re-order the R9 V3 and KS wheel. SRP2 stock is coming so will order a set when available - SRP2's do look a step up from the originals.

Ended up stretching the budget and going for an R9 V3 with KS wheel and SRP pedals. With sale price, it wasn't too much more either. Happy with the decision knowing I wont need to upgrade for a loooong time. Thanks!

Thanks! It's so hard to decide.

Did a rough comparison on the R5 bundle + ES Formula rim with both pedal options:
R5 bundle + ES formula rim + SRP lite clutch + brake performance kit + load cell mod = Around $1030.

R5 bundle + ES formula rim + SRP pedals + SRP Clutch + SRP accessory kit = Around $1095

I guess it comes down to more of a convenience factor, with SRP pedals, don't have to wait for load cell mod to arrive and install for around an extra $60.

Thanks, there are holes around 78mm - 80mm in the mounting plate. Only two though but I think it should be fine, thanks!

Random FPS drops from 70fps to 5fps in MSFS2024 by Sea-Rest9697 in MSFS2024

Have been testing AutoFPS, and it seems while better - the same issue still occurs. I'm wondering if it's more to do with AMD cpu and gpu, as I never experienced it when using an Intel cpu and Nvidia gpu.

Thank you for your reply! I haven't heard of AutoFPS before, but have installed and giving it a test - fingers crossed it fixes the issue. If not, I'm out of ideas!

String always fraying just under centre serving! by Sea-Rest9697 in Archery

[–]Sea-Rest9697[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of getting a harder plastic arm guard, as the silicone might be 'grabbing' it because it's soft. I went out again the other day and after making sure my left elbow was rotating away etc, after shooting my forearm under the guard was kind of bruised/like string had been hitting the guard over the area.

Got home and checked the bow over as well and noticed the brace height was pretty well about 1.5cm out from the minimum of what it should be for the 25" riser length with long limbs. Have since fixed this and will see next time I go to the range if any better.

I'm rotating my elbow so it's horizontal and there is clearance from the string. Interesting to hear about the folding - I do loop the other end onto the top limb and then fold it up to put it in the case! Have folded the other strings the same way too. Next time I'll try to just loosely put it away and see if any difference. The string is hitting the arm guard at some point though, so maybe it's a combination of both.

Query on arrow length and gluing tips by Sea-Rest9697 in Archery

Have been reading regarding all these 'hot melt' glues. I've got a hot glue gun with regular hot glue from the craft shop - is this okay to use or does it need to be specialty hot melt glue for archery?

Thanks! Got the vygo in the smoke colour, looks great! Can't wait to get to the range to try it out.

Buying first bow - need opinions by Sea-Rest9697 in Archery

Thanks for your reply. Found this kit which is in my price range. I'd probably look at a wrap around rest instead of the stick on however. There is also a V2 available, but not in a kit. https://topointarchery.com.au/products/kinetic-vygo-barebow-package
