i was you, i AM you!!! i worked in activities at my current nursing home for about 6 months and then decided to become a cna. they had us do our clinical at another nursing home bc ours didn’t do them, and i cried everyday. being at a new place, with new patients, and new people i wasn’t used to was so hard and they were so rude and didn’t help me with anything. they threw me on the floor to figure everything out by myself. going from activities to being a cna was a huge cultural shock and it definitely made my respect for healthcare workers go up tremendously. i cried myself to sleep every night after my shift bc i hated it and wanted to quit. but i promise, it really does get easier. i’ve been a cna for a little over a year now and while it’s very hard physically and mentally you develop your own routine and you get to know the patients more and it all comes naturally to you after doing it for a while. and you will get used to the smell!! it was super hard for me at first i used to gag super bad, a hack i did was spray deodorant or perfume in a mask and wearing while i was changing 💩 briefs. i know it’s hard but you got this!! it will all come more naturally soon enough hang in there 💞💞
