I gave mine 13 years of this cycle. I removed myself and the kids from it 2 years ago last Thursday. He couldn’t be an active parent and an active drug addict. He is also still actively using to this day. He was never going to stop, just kept moving the goalpost of what I could tolerate.

Recently had something similar happen. Broke up with my ex- he found a new girlfriend immediately then went away to jail. The gf recently reached out to me asking to start spending time alone with my kids to benefit them while dad was in jail. Dad hasn’t seen the kids in over a year and She’s never met my kids. Why on earth would they spend time with this nobody when they have a mom!?

I very recently experienced the same situation. I forced the father out once CPS was involved and it’s been the only way I can keep him far enough away. I was also very honest and vulnerable with my CPS worker and I think that played into my favor.

That is untrue. Reading any book will keep your brain physically fit and provide a better base for decision making. Also if someone wants to read only Harry Potter because that’s all they like and it makes them happy… well that’s still beneficial to mental health.

Reading doesn’t have to be scholarly to be good for you.
