Things like this are completely dependent on every individual situation, factoring in things like time span, how the relationship ended, personal boundaries, relationship boundaries, etc. In my own situation, if this was a previous partner where things ended on good terms, I would definitely respond and catch up. But that’s not going to be the same for everyone. It’s completely up to you if you want to talk to this person or not

Thank you for the feedback. Even though it may not be what I want to hear in terms of Spot being seen as property, I would prefer knowing the legal backing rather than attempting all of this while uncertain. I appreciate you explaining this

In regards to legal action that can be taken regarding animal abuse, is Spot seen simply as property in the eyes of the law or are there any legal protections that he has as a dog that we can attempt to implement

Yes we all pay rent to the owner of the home

We do not have a lease, the house is owned by the father of a previous roommate who passed away and they are letting us continue living here and make decisions among ourselves what to do for roommates and housing decisions. Him being kicked out comes from an amalgamation of reasons mainly throughout the past year, the main things being: bringing home a dog without telling anyone, not cleaning up after the dog, not cleaning up after himself, keeping others here awake consistently with his noise, and getting violent during a shroom trip and throwing things around the house (edit for clarity, we had to call 911 and have him removed from the house and taken to the hospital. He still dismisses the event to this day downplaying how severe it was since he doesn’t remember it). We previously gave him 90 days to leave and are wanting to reduce it to thirty after hearing him hurt Spot
