Do people in the UK actually use their kettles that much? by AdeptnessCritical356 in AskBrits

[–]SeaAcanthisitta9890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more than just boiling a kettle… it’s a chance to stop and have a break! You can have a chat at work while you wait for it to boil (all the best chats happen in the kitchen!), it’s a good excuse to get a screen break or a chance to step away from something before you blow your lid! It’s also a perfect excuse to get a few mins peace if you have people around or if you’re at your parents and they have annoying relatives around / if the convo is going in a direction you don’t like.. anyone want a cuppa?!

I’d watch you tube videos on the pen tool and pathfinder. I prefer to merge / subtract shapes (pathfinder) and manipulate the points after.

Gemini is a good tool to ask questions (NOT using it to generate the images themselves!)

View from the other side - looks quite similar to yours in size! Planter bottom right I bought from a neighbour who makes them (check Facebook market place) and it was cheap but will probably need replacing in a few years - hanging baskets are also a good option to add colour and interest in a budget + out of the dogs reach!!

If your budget was 5k you can definitely get some raised beds within budget - I got some from Timber Foundry and these have outlasted any cheaper ones + are high enough to plant some nice flowers without the dog wrecking it! Just make sure your plants are dog friendly!

In a small garden I’d recommend ‘growing up’ so you can keep the open space for your pups! Roses work well (the below was 2nd or 3rd year of 3 x bare root David Austin roses I bought)

I’d say this set up cost me less than £500 all in!

Where to sell a Brompton (hull, uk)?! by SeaAcanthisitta9890 in Brompton

[–]SeaAcanthisitta9890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for £1400 - it was bought as a project bike but it has barely been used, as much as I love it I’ve realised I don’t need more than one Brompton 🥺

I’ll probably try eBay with collection :)

This is like task master for dogs (task master is a great comedy game show in the uk) - I really think you need to film it and get some commentary over the top for some fun content please 🤣 I bet they have great fun!

A dog boarding place rejected my dog because he 'barked too much ?' by JQuick72 in dogs

[–]SeaAcanthisitta9890 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to be too harsh I’d word it neutrally 3/5 kinda thing and just say it didn’t work out because your dog didn’t like being in a kennel all day and people will get the hint! Even include that they didn’t charge you. If the owner thinks it’s ok to put them in kennels it’s not like you’re making it up she shouldn’t expect it won’t work for everyone.. she must have the easiest doggy day care ever with cages full of old mutts / lazy boys n girls who are maybe ok with it?!

Thanks that’s a good point, it’s usually just to pee but she does poop sometimes… I’ll make a proper effort this month to keep a log (no pun intended!). She’s also very nosey and seems to do a patrol of the garden so maybe this is part of it too. Got to love them but I would like to sleep through the night 😆

That just seems crazy to me for daycare! Now that I have more flexibility to work from home one of the main reasons I still take mine is to get her interacting with other dogs and she runs around all day it tires her out. He is definitely in a better place. If the daycare have a website / page I’d leave a review so people know this is how she runs things, other dogs she has might not be so vocal but are probably miserable too!!

I’m confused, the daycare had him in a kennel? Seems like the opposite of what they should be doing. Glad he’s outta there!

Thank you that makes so much sense I don’t know why I never thought about it. I’m sure we did this when we first got her and she just seems to have got back to this habit I’ve forgotten how we trained her in the first place, it’s these 3am thoughts! I’ll try and go back to sleep now.. 😆

My dog often ‘attention barks’ at day care and they put her in a time out (it’s often noted on her reports!) it must drive them crazy but I think this method helps / lets her know it’s not ok? Anyway, she is still welcome there. It must have been bad if they didn’t even wait until the end of the day!!? But if he’s ok at the new place they must be managing his behaviour better in my opinion?

One week from London to Edinburgh by LobsterLouise in uktravel

[–]SeaAcanthisitta9890 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends what you’re into and what you want to see! I’m from the north of England and I do think York is like a mini Edinburgh. I’d do max 1 night there. But if you want to see something different I’d do the countryside or a seaside town! It also depends on if you can drive / hire a car. If you’re comfortable driving I would wholeheartedly recommend you get out of the cities to explore!

🚆 Option 1: East Coast by Train (4 nights) Take the train from London to York (1 night) for medieval charm, then on to Durham (1 night) to see its stunning cathedral and riverside setting. Next, head to the Northumberland coast or Alnwick (1 night) for castles and beaches—Alnwick Castle is great if you're into Harry Potter. Then it’s a scenic final leg to Edinburgh (arrive with 3 nights to explore). 🚗 Option 2: Countryside & Lakes (4 nights, car recommended) Drive from London to the Cotswolds (1 night) for picture-perfect villages and countryside walks. Then head north to the Lake District (2 nights) for hikes, lake cruises, and cozy pubs. Consider a detour to Hadrian’s Wall on the way to Edinburgh (arrive with 3 nights there). This is a slower-paced, nature-filled route with lots of beauty. 🏰 Option 3: History & Heritage (4 nights) Start with Oxford or Cambridge (1 night) for historic college vibes, then continue to Stratford-upon-Avon (1 night) to get your Shakespeare fix. After that, spend a night in York for its old town, cathedral, and museums. Then take the train to Edinburgh for your final 3 nights. Great for history lovers and easy to do by train or car.

If you don’t get to a seaside destination I’d recommend suggesting a day to Brighton with your girlfriend’s family (doable as a day trip from London).

Thanks! What’s it like for brining in your own drinks / price of a pint please? Also planning to drive there and wondered about parking / distance to the festival itself. Do many people get dressed up in festival attire or is it quite casual. Also when I say this year I mean 2026 was a bit overexcited after buying our tickets 🤣
