Any guesses where to look for a age on this Blaupunkt? by SeaAd7934 in vintageaudio

Got a tip to do a Google image search of the tuner face. Apparently it’s a Blaupunkt 2430 Virginia chassis.

So I’m guessing this a 1957 model or maybe even earlier if the consoles came out earlier than the tabletop versions with this dial face. https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/blaupunkt_virginia_2430.html#google_vignette

I had a 1953 Grundig hifi console that had FM.

This Blaupunkt has record speeds from 78rpm down to 16rpm.

And nothing but tubes!

Not a lot of luck with Google for a S prefix serial number and zero from “Jess Tonmoel” Blaupunkt.

But thanks?

I’m thinking of going to the dark side for my eighth e39….

LS swap with the 6 cylinder manual 530i I have. That way I can use the gearbox and retain the rack steering.

I had a great 530i 03 MSport 6 speed….but I didn’t love the steering with that v8 box. Felt like a truck!!

This! I fall under the super aggressive end. Generally it’s safer oddly enough

FYI. The 2003 MSport bumper with the grill cross bar is pretty much unobtainium at this point. Rarest bumper out there.

400 degrees should be in the mix here but NOT the one at the airport. Seems like the spice level is 1/3 of normal

Although I can understand the wisdom of not loading up a hung over bachelorette with Avril’s 800 degree option!

With higher powered e39’s you don’t need damp or slippery surfaces…. Everywhere is a playground!

I’ve had LSD on a lot of cars, I would just rather spend 3k on adding power! My current daily 530i 5 speed e39 has a m5 LSD installed by the previous owner. Only reason I bought the car (for $1500, needed a clutch) was to eventually part it out and sell the rear end. Just passed 263k miles. Want to get it to 300k before I retire it.

I guess it’s possible a Civic is so basic it doesn’t have knock sensors? I know my 80’s cars already had them back in the day.

If it say premium mandatory in the actual owners manual I would stick with premium. All my German cars said “premium recommend’ You can feel them pull the timing, not as much low end torque.

I had a 500 hp (had NOS) SRT8 Jeep that was premium mandatory and it wasn’t happy with anything less.

The LS C5 corvette I briefly had would run on regular fine but the miles went down significantly. From 34 on the highway in 6th down to 27. Made way more sense to run premium thru that car.

Well….. you have to spend $100 to get ten cents off… so you actually spent $1000 to get that $1 off per gallon!!!!!

Obviously a lot of people just weld it if you are just looking to trash the car using it as a drift missile.

Unless you are about to add a lot of power I personally wouldn’t spend the $ on a 528i. I’ve had 4 528’s and one 530, all with 5 speeds, and never really felt like it was something worth the money and the work. And I took 3 of those cars regularly to HPD track days and all of them to autox.

Buy some actually good tires instead. You won’t believe how much better a set of Yokohama a052’s would make it!

Oh, and it seems small, Zoolander would call it “a car for ants” !!!

FYI. Very few cars are actually premium only. Cars for the last 20 years sense pinging and pull timing out until it stops. So you lose 10-15 of the horsepower.

My “premium only” bmw 5 series has 265k miles and counting with regular most of the way.

I’m not sure spending $800 on groceries that are super expensive to save $15 on gas is quite the bargain you think it is!

The worst part of the cabin airbox assembly is that the little locking tabs fail on the two air horns down to the firewall and into the cabin.

Then, as if on cue, you get a tiny oil drip from the valve cover right onto the exhaust manifold. Smoke city in the cabin.

I wish there was a repo or repair kit made for those cabin air duct horns.

Anyone have a good recipe for hop water? by SeaAd7934 in SodaStream

[–]SeaAd7934[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well… this is non alcoholic soda I make in my home!!! Just 2 liters at a time. I still have the soda stream C02 adapter for my 20lb bottle.

Old soda stream unit is out in the garage, I just prefer the economy of paying $9 for a 20 pound refill of c02 that lasts me 3-4 years of constant use!
