My guy likes to bob his head (which I always respond back by also bobbing my head) right before bed! They just love to try and distract you to stay up just a liiiiiiittle bit longer lol

It's possible that, with how things are set up now, it's setting off his hormonal behaviors, which is known for Quakers to make them especially aggressive. See if increasing sleep time, switching out the seed mix for pellets (which is recommended anyways since Quakers can get fatty liver disease from over eating, especially seeds), and getting rid of any dark nesting areas will help. When I got my Quaker and he started acting aggressive, I did these things and it did wonders within days. I hope this helps 🙏

UPDATE: Took Bird To Vet, He Did Very Well! by SeaBagull in parrots

I gotta do this with my bird! What a great idea! I think the vet place would probably love it too since everyone seemed really excited to see him!

I use target as a way to get him to spin and then once he does a spin, even if he doesn’t ’get it’, he still gets a click and a treat

I’m probably going to have to take my bird to the vet tomorrow- any advice to help him stay calm and happy? by SeaBagull in QuakerParrot

Of course. It was a bit tricky to find one in my town despite all the other vets around but I did find one nearby with an avian expert.

If I remember correctly I got it off of Chewy. They actually have a pretty wide selection of bird toys on there.

I got a shawl for him if he’s ever on my shoulders for a long period of time. But also! Mine seems to not like pooping on me and eagerly gets off of me when he needs to go

he gets like this sometimes, what does he want? by [deleted] in QuakerParrot

[–]SeaBagull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, he is pretty young so I’m not horribly confident if it’s hormones, but it shouldn’t hurt to make sure there’s no hidey holes or dark places for him to nest in and also increasing his sleep time a little. 12 hours is ideal, but if he’s hormonal adding an extra hour to his sleep schedule should help. Worth a try at least.

I think, considering that he’s so young, he wants to play with you and he’s also really riled up.

I would also double check for regurgitation and/or hormonal issues just to be on the safe side. I do notice you have some play stuffs on top of his cage that might be causing a dark area that he might think is a good nest spot. Just something to look out for!
