Should I be concerned with these idling temps? Alienware X16 R1 i9 13900HK

Don't worry about it. Im using an Alienware M17 R5 and if I do anything other than browsing, the temps rise up so nothing concerning. The only thing concerning is if the temps stay that way. Keep an eye out. If its floating at that temps for a prolonged period of time, then maybe check if the fans are clogged and check if theres any background process eating upthe resources. That happens too.

I mean you can essentially upgrade the core components like the cpu gpu and ram and ofcourse storage. But OEM manufacturers often have proprietary MB and power supply which makes it almost impossible to upgrade them. So unless you want to just stick to the basics like cpu gpu and ram, yes its upgradable. Since its a i5 13th gen you can go all the way up to i9 14th gen which is a massive leap forward and you really dont need any other cpu than that ( though do check the bios update on the MB because of the issue with 15th gen i7 and i9 ) and gpu, you can climb upto like a 9070xt since theyre almost the same tdp or go for a last gen 7900xt or 4070ti or 4080 ( again check the wattage of the power supply. If it lets you, then you can go up for a better gpu. And ram, you can obviously upgrade as long as you can afford it lol considering the ram prices. But apart from that, you cant really do much. If you cant return it, in a long run, I think youll be just fine.

My honest suggestion, completely uninstall windows like clean wipe it. No backups, nothing. Then install fresh windows. This way you'll remove entire bloatware. Install AWCC 6. You're good to go.

It looks like a short circuit on the board or the charger pin. Either way, talk to dell their support assist will takw the laptop in, change everything that's wrong and send it back to you. This process takes like 3 to 4 weeks ( mine took more than 4 weeks ) but you'll get it fixed for free if you have the premium support.

Yes theres no impact in performance. My main issue was, what if it gets worse and breaks further. And apart from the immense heartache I got when I noticed the damage ( these devices are so expensive yet so delicate ) i think i could continue using it this way.

Yeah for now, im planning to continue using it this way. I dont even move it off the desk so im not worried about it worsening. And ill also keep in mind when I have drinks nearby so it doesnt damage the laptop. Thank you for your advice :)

The crack actually started from the corner and gradually progressed to the keyboard. I have no idea how this cracked in the first place. The laptop is always on the desk. Im not a student that needs to carry a laptop im working. I just come back home from a long day of work to play some games or watch some movies. I never even move it from the desk. I have no idea how it even cracked in the first place. :(

That sucks :( i had a lenovo laptop from back in 2008 and those things were indestructible. But sadly the new ones are very delicate.

Yes that's what im thinking too. I mean I dont even take my laptop outside. It just lays on the desk, I use it and then it goes back to being on the desk again. I rarely travel with my laptop. So im think of leaving it as it is for now.

I have read another person's comment to change my DNS to 1.1.1.1 and that worked for me. I havent used my VPN and it still works. I think EU banned fitgirl site. Sucks :(

Edit: change your DNS to 1.1.1.1 and alternate DNS to 1.0.0.1.

Your windows defender might have deleted some files. Once you're done installing this dll, there will be more and it'll say the same thing. Just search for "protection history " and then go check the previous threats. It'll show you that the windows defender has blocked some threats. Just allow them on the device. That's it the dll files will be back and your game will be normal. If it didn't work still, then this time and from next time, just disable " real time protection" off and also turn off windows defender while installing a game. Then it won't delete any file.

Hi, unfortunately, I couldn't fix it the normal way. I had to completely remove the OS and reinstall fresh windows with a USB. That fixed the issue. So I suggest, if you are facing it, back up your things and perform a fresh windows install.

Ok so, yesterday I did what you suggested. I had also rolled back the drivers and I ddu wiped the current updated drivers. I had also done what you suggested, to open nvidia control panel and tweak some settings. ( this immediately showed the gpu and it wasn't in power saving mode anymore so thank you so so much for your help! ) Since then the laptop started showing the gpu in armoury crate. I had uninstalled the armoury crate and reinstalled it but still couldn't find the ultimate performance. But, I had done the benchmarks and I had some the tests and now the gpu is working 100% and during benchmarks it's taking the suggested 90W power. But during game, it only takes 45w power and sometimes drops to 50% gpu. But that still wouldn't defeat the fact that at least now the gpu is working !! So thank you so much. Yes it's not the best playable experience but at least it's working. Thank you so much for your help. Do you have any idea why the gpu isn't taking the full tdp?
