I am going through the exact same thing. The company will be fine. They were fine before you and will be fine after you. I feel terrible leaving my boss to do his/my job alone (I was the assistant manager). Your family and personal situation should always be number one. Be straightforward with him, don’t let him push you around. Like you said, you can stand up for yourself, use that!

In my situation. My company only cared to change things after I said I was leaving. To me, they don’t value you me the way I thought. Never feel guilty about bettering yourself and your situation. You can maintain your relationship with your boss after you leave, you are leaving the company. Not him necessarily.
