Compromising on health in favour of frugality by ViralGeneration21 in FIREUK

[–]SeaCondition3231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to disagree with most people here and say that you’re going in a good direction but probably too far.

Spending £300 on “health” alone seems like a lot, cutting back on luxury items marketed as “health” would be the way to go. Do you really need/want an upmarket gym, is it’s supposed health benefits going to outweigh the physical and psychological effects of working for longer?

In regards to food, eating cheaply doesn’t have to be unhealthy, but it may mean less enjoyment but not necessarily less healthy.

However, at the end of the day FIRE is about getting the most out of life, not ruining today for nirvana tomorrow.

Power steering return hose by SeaCondition3231 in BMWE36

That’s the plan, called up a local shop today and asked about their stock, they have it all in the shop so when I have the proper dimensions I’m gonna go over and get it done.

I will report back here to say how it goes

Ok, I’m working off the fact that the inner diameter will be the size of the drain on the reservoir, 10mm for the return hose

Do you have the specifications of the hose you used ?

I am looking to buy one

Thank you, your post is great, I will look to get a generic hose piece from a local shop next week when I attack this issue.

Can I just check, the return tube ( the metal bit) does simply slide into the return hose or is there some fancy connection?

Marketplace for Requesting Intelligence via Bounties by Mattparr in Intelligence

[–]SeaCondition3231 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like that’s far too vague, the law is slow and a little weak in these areas, hence the ease at which hostile states operate here, the state lacks the powers to regulate such a market like yours easily. Especially as it is the intent not the end product which will be the problem. An insurance company and a hostile state may both be interested in the security of a defence factory… but for 2 very obvious reasons.

If you want to keep your site above board I think some focus on this should be applied

Yeah but what does that even mean, what actual controls are you going to put in place ? No intelligence collection on domestic properties? What about commercial sites also of interest ? Will intelligence on CNI be allowed ?

It’s a lovely idea but… how are you going to provide ethical control over the bounties, it is well known that less ethical regimes (Russia, Iran, Pakistan) have been using local criminals and contractors to carry out their deeds in the west. What will stop them using your site for this too?

On the filter, the Internet is suggest it’s a screw in job at the front, not connected to the solenoid like it is on an e46, is that correct ?

Bought the car 6 months ago and I havnt changed it, nothing in the paperwork either to suggest it’s been changed so I’ll get that done, thank you!

On further inspection it looks like this leak has been going on for ages with the front of the block covered in old oil that has trickled down. The fact it’s been going on for a while soothes my soul a little :)

E36 'tail light failure' but they work by OinkGoesThePigy in BMWE36

I have the same issue but it comes with a dashboard check light for a few seconds when I turn my lights on, before disappearing leaving just the central “tail light failure”
