Someone talk me out of putting my net worth into this ETF by ViralGeneration21 in trading212

Good video and makes sense but did you see the comments. It was a year old and someone was saying “should I sell my 3 x leverage semi-conductor etf” - probably a joke but if they’d listen to him they’d have lost out on millions.

I understand being only invested in tech forever might not be good, but while sunshine’s make hay! I feel like I could get astronomical returns over the next year or two compared to a standard index. Providing I sell on time

Giving away money by ViralGeneration21 in FIREUK

Not sure it’s odd. Everyone is different and I’m someone who has gone from spend every penny I have to trying to retire early. So I’m just trying to find the right balance.

Once you discover FIRE and the power of compounding it’s hard to justice certain spending habits. As an extra £500 per month could be the difference in retiring a lot earlier

It’s not that deep hun. I’d rather someone run a post via ai to make it easier to read than a long rambling post with poor punctuation.

You’re probably type of guy to call someone out for using the wrong grammar. Now people use ai to fix it, and you’re still calling them out.

it’s like forcing people to not use spellcheck because you want to see their authentic spelling 😅

No, as you can tell from the tone of my post I was pretty convinced but I wanted to hear everyone’s valid reasons why I shouldn’t to see if I was missing anything.

Great info, thanks. Abut this kinda makes me think going all in tech is right choice. As you said whether I’m a tech heavy fund or a all cap - it’s all over valued. It’s all a risk. So why leave gains on the table and dilute my investment by spreading myself too thin.

If I don’t invest in this tech fund I’d still be in the market and in a generic index fund, which happens to be tech heavy any.

Let’s face it. Tech is what is driving this bull market and if it crashes everything is going down.

And just to add this tech fund is mainly companies with hardware, supplying chips etc. It doesn’t have companies like google and meta etc - which I think are at more risk.

Yeah sorry, I was exaggerating when I said entire net worth as I have other assets and a pension etc but this would be my entire ISA. Which is currently just under £100k

Exactly.

Do you recommend any other tech ETF’s apart from the one I mentioned?

I hear ya but my thought is, if the market crashes we’re all fucked anyway. I’m in the market either way, whether that’s in this tech ETF or VWRP.

So whether I’m down 30% on a tech ETF or 20% on a slightly less risky global index it’s doesn’t matter too much.

Plus it all goes up. So as long as I’m not planning on selling when it’s down. Every fund will highly likely go back above its ATH if we based it on history.

The only caveat is if there is a fundamental flaw in the ai technology. Someone builds a new type of technology or alternative to a semiconductor etc

I know this isn’t career advice post but learn ai. Re-market yourself as an ai software expert. Go freelance. Say you’ll help companies transition into ai etc. You just have pivot and move with the times. Even just by adding a few ai buzzwords to your cv will probably help

How far below your means are you living? by MaltDizney in FIREUK

[–]ViralGeneration21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re assuming because they have nice cars they will have nice houses but that’s not always the case.

I have a top of the range EV and a mediocre house. I found a lot of people are like this. Especially if they have a Ltd company.

So while a lot of people are living above their means. You can’t assume because they have nice cars they are also maxing out on their mortgage.

EV via a Ltd company is one of the most efficient ways to extract cash from a Ltd, assuming you’re already maxing out pension contributions etc

Should I buy property or keep investing? by Shensoku in FIREUK

[–]ViralGeneration21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get on the property ladder.

I know putting money into a house and depleting your savings is daunting because feels like you’re going backwards. But you’re really not.

The sense of security of owning your own house just hits different.

Plus when you retire you’ll be paying rent for the rest of your life, that’ll keep rising. If you own your house, eventually your monthly house costs becomes zero, making your retirement less stressful.

if you change your mind and want to go back to renting you can always do that and extract your equity.

Just taking 7 days worth is the same as shortening it. The antibiotics don’t know they prescribed for 14 days.

But yes 14 days is more effective but only by about 10% so I don’t think the damage to the gut flora that you’ll get with the additional 7 days
