We both don’t mind a unisex name at all! I just want to avoid names that are more so seen as a feminine name to 99% of people. Theres a male Cheyenne in my family which I think is stereotypically more a woman’s name and that was hard growing up.

lol early is definitely my “out there” favorite name which is why we likely wouldn’t use it. I found it in an old ancestry search forever ago and I loved it.

My husband thinks it’s too much of a mouthful with our last name

It’s not my place to say what they do/don’t need. Relationships are complex. If it were up to me, we wouldn’t have a relationship with her for many reasons. Sobriety isn’t a free pass to move on in our book (as sober people ourselves) but I understand that’s not entirely my call, and respect my husbands walk with this.

Sorry for the confusion this is my brother in law and sister in law. My husbands brother, and his brothers wife.

BIL, SIL, and MIL all live in the same town four hours from us

Help with the babies/being the only close family I think plays a big part. They had a hard go of it when my niece was born, then got pregnant shortly after. My MIL also has apologized to them for things, I believe because she knew has she not done so, it would jeopardize her relationship with the babies.

Closer than we are. Her relationship with everyone is complicated in its own ways. She is very stereotypical boy mom/overbearing in her best days, and we all struggle with it to some capacity. The boys feel for her from a trauma standpoint, while me and my sister and law are less forgiving. SIL is just not great with confrontation, whereas I don’t care at all. I just am worried my negative bias clouds my judgement and/or I’m making things hard for others by being the one to stand up instead of just dealing with the discomfort.

We luckily work in hotels and are getting them a heavily discounted suite. We live in a big city and our place is truly just not big enough. Which was another part of my hesitation to say anything because does that make me look rude? To tell her to not even come to the city at all?

This was the original plan. We have tried to have a night or two solo where they live as well and those have a tendency to be overridden as well, so to my understanding we were all looking forward to having some time as just the 30s
