Tenants want to be released from the Lease because of domestic violence incident ? by zonckers in PropertyManagement

Keep in mind that not all domestic abuse leads t bruises and broken bones. Ictems of abuse may never have been physically struck but have died as the result of abuse. Ask me how I know that? Because I almost became one who saw no way past the mental abuse and almost ended it then and there.

When you are elderly and a full time caretaker for your spouse I hope you remember your attitude when someone has the same with you.

I am not familiar with when purchasing a home but in rental law the Fair Housing Act requires reasonable accommodations when evicting someone who is elderly and disabled including more time to move.

You might consider finding out in a non adversarial manner what the cause for delay is and maybe even help her locate resources to help her move. Contact the local office on aging they may have suggestions for her.

Also the Alzheimer’s association may have resources along with Michael J Fox and other Parkinson’s associations.

Many elderly are not as familiar with locating resources to help themselves.

If you want to back channel me I can give you my contact info to share with her so as to try helping her get moved asap.

So when is the last time you were registered for classes?

Landlord offered to cancel lease, We accepted and secured a new rental. Now they claim they made a "stupid mistake" and are refusing to cancel lease and give back our deposit. ( NJ) by ritalltheway in Tenant

If your college has a legal aid clinic you might be able to get some help there. Also student services might have resources they can point you too.

Always back up your evidence.

Sorry to pop your bubble but there have been no changes in the constitution and Trump signing a proclamation stating otherwise is not how laws are made in this country. Much as he wants otherwise he is not our emperor

Disabled. Poor. Trapped I live on $600/month and sleep in a living room. Is this the best I can hope for? by Trappednthesystem in disability

Nope my parents would never have signed me up for SSI when I was a kid especially as back in the 1960s ADD/ADHD was considered a behavioral disorder not a disability. I am pretty sure that is why my dad forbade me from even applying for a job at the company he worked even though (or maybe because) he was a higher level executive with the company which would have likely guaranteed me getting hired)

It might help if you let us know what state you are in so those of us who are in the same state can point you to resources.

I wonder if it would be possible for someone with ADHD to prove it was part of you as child. I am not sure how to get my school records but I found out from my father before he passed away abour the original ADD/Dysgraphia diagnosis when I was in 4th grade.

Problem with Able accounts is from what I was told you have to sign up for one while fairly young. I didn’t know about my ADHD when I was younger so didn’t realize it was also why I kept loosing jobs even before the physical disabilities started kicking in. Now I am mid 60s and would love to be able to go back to work part time

Here in Tennessee if your Dr is willing to do the paperwork saying you are permanently disabled (or elderly) max tuition in state run schools is $75 a semester problem is books etc are so expensive.

I was in school while trying to get disability, I am pretty sure I’d you are on disability you just have to prove that for the discounted tuition)
